Didn't want to give cash. We have 8 year old boy who will be opening his gifts and want her to open some nice things too.

Great idea Ahmen, thank you

My DD is 17 in January and so far I've got her:

Makeup
Bath bombs
Mac voucher
Xbox voucher
Beauty and the Beast music box (it's her firm favourite of the live action films)
Perfume

Her 'big present' is a new laptop as hers has died recently

We also do pyjamas and slippers, chocolate (Reece's usually) and sometimes fancy hot chocolate type things (I usually put a kit together with a new mug and all the bits and bobs)

Fivemoreminutes1 · 12/11/2022 07:56

North Face hoodie and beanie
Gym bag
Hollywood mirror
Mocktail kit
Throw Throw Burrito game
Barry M gift set

BCxx · 12/11/2022 08:00

At that age (and still now!) my mum always got me some nice make up, make up brushes, a nice jumper, maybe boots or something, slippers, jammies, maybe a bag?

Lovemusic33 · 12/11/2022 08:02

Dd is almost 17 but has autism so not your average 17 year old, she’s getting a Lego technics set and some art supplies (artists pens and pencils), also tamped to get her the ‘house of games’ board game. She doesn’t really like clothes as a gift which makes it tricky now she’s getting older.

Her sister is almost 19 and is getting some clothes and one of the new Pokémon switch games.

Some great ideas here, especially the north face hoodie. Nearly 17 is a hard age to get for and it's her birthday beginning of Jan 😱

Oodie which I'd already bought then she asked for a particular onesie so she's having that as well.

Skateboard deck, trainers and a bath bomb kit.

Sorry hadn't seen your update. Does she like perfume? Usually you can pick up a lovely gift set in the sales for a January birthdays Wink

It's tough isn't it! My DDs birthday is 8th January so I feel your pain there!

She usually asks for an experience of some sort for her birthday... we did a bird of prey handling thing last year and this year we're thinking of a spa day/stay with my GMIL, MIL and SIL so that'll be nice Smile

Haventhadaneggsinceeaster · 13/11/2022 03:28

mind will be getting driving lessons as a joint birthday and Christmas present. I'll get her a couple of items of clothing as well so she has something to open.

AtSomePointInLife · 13/11/2022 07:57

Snoooze, my dd is 9th Jan. we are getting her driving lessons for next year so at least that's sorted x

My 17 year old is getting a really nice crocheted cardigan from her brother (over £100!) and a nice knitted top from me, several art books and art supplies, plus a trip to a cat café.

Hereforit2022 · 13/11/2022 08:45

I don't have any daughters but if I was a 16/17 year old I would probably like...

Make up
Perfume
Jammies
Nice trainers/clothes
Bath stuff
Vouchers for Starbucks/coffee shop
Maybe a Starbucks reusable cup?
Jewellery (not expensive, costume)
Mobile phone cover
Chocolate/sweets
If something big maybe Dyson hair dryer/air wrap?
Gel nail polish kit

Not much then 😂

Thanks for the ideas. I was looking at the Dyson Wrap but it's so expensive 😱

I know it really is expensive. If u were considering it wait until black Friday I am sure you would get it much cheaper then

nomoreflyingducks · 13/11/2022 12:29

A bit of jewellery with her birth stone in it for her birthday?
