Very mindful this year of not just filling with stuff for the sake of it. Would appreciate your ideas of what you buy please. Especially happy to hear your more quirky ideas. Thank you in advance

14 year old dd is getting a powerpack for her phone, some little warhammer bits eg grass and mini skulls to put on the bases of her figures, some edible icing pens (the lakeland ones that are like felt tip pens), a dinosaur stuffed toy (we had a tragedy this year when dh mistook the bin bag of all her stuffed toys that were outside her room while we were having some work done in there for ragging...) usual sweets etc. Hopefully a mini lego set if I can find something as it has become a bit of a tradition.

16 year old is a ds but getting similar, powerpack, wants an sd card so I'll stick that in, probably a gift card for nintendo. I'll admit after that I'm stuck.

Ours have pretty standard items, year on year and once past primary school it hasn't varied enormously, even into adulthood. Often slightly more expensive than we usually bought - MAC rather than Rimmel, Victoria's Secrets or Agent provocateur rather than M&S and adapted to hobbies and activities, age, preferences etc.
Book
Magazine
Makeup
Toiletries
Socks or tights
Underwear
Scent
Jewelry
Something like sheet music and rosin or ballet tights and ouch pads or a new Scrum cap or ski/sailing gloves.
Trainers if needed, new ballet shoes or under-armour if needed. Stuff they need but which is still exciting to get.
Stationary
Sweets
A voucher for cinema or shopping, a Pret card or a restaurant voucher.
New boots or shoes (I wouldn't but their father made it a tradition).
New PJs.
Hair things.
Gloves and scarves or hats.

My DD is a bit younger (nearly 11) but there might be something that helps...

Bakedin cookie mix in a bottle
Perfume (cheap but lovely one from Next)
Palm reading book
Skin tone colouring pencils (requested)
Make-up bag
Book
Gloves
Purse
Tangram game
Scented pens
Rock/crystal for her collection
Sweets/chocolate

Previous hits were a hair wrap, make-up brush set, worry doll, metallic outline pens, icing nozzles, bath bombs, mug with initial, mug cake mix, marshmallow toasting fork.

emmathedilemma · 11/11/2022 12:07

Go practical if you don't want to be buying stuff for the sake of it:
socks
tights
knickers
nice shower gel or bath bubbles
hair bobbles
earrings
pens / pencils
nail varnish
water bottle
anything for sports or hobbies e.g. swimming goggles, sports socks
chocolate or sweets
coffee shop voucher (my friend's 12yr olds are obsessed with Costa and Starbucks on the way home from school)

BreakfastClub80 · 11/11/2022 12:42

Notebook
Post it notes
Nail varnish
