£5 funny secret Santa?

Nowyouseemenowy0udont · 10/11/2022 23:41

I'm really struggling with this one. It's for a woman I don't know particularly well. Preferably something funny apparently! We've very few shops nearby, so I'll probably be ordering online, happy to pay postage on top of the £5. Anyone seen anything suitable? Thanks.

I should have added, aged mid fifties, likes wine, lives alone. That's about all I know!

A novelty wine glass? Quick Google shows they have them in Asda, Matalan, The Range for under £5

My colleague got this for a secret Santa and it went down a treat as a "mood of the day" in the office

Fake tattoo sleeves, cheap on eBay. They caused a laugh at our Christmas meal one year, particularly as the recipient would never have a real tattoo.

Maybe an adult coloring calendar? Or something like a planner with coloring elements, book stores usually have lots of them, both in smaller and bigger sizes.

A little over budget but

Poundland does a set of 'Naughty' and 'Nice' drinks glasses, I think £4.

Im not up on different types of crockary but I think they are like a stemless wine glass.

They are good glasses, I had them until my DH dropped them and broke them.

The book "How to tell if your cat is plotting to kill you" - rrp for paperback is £6.99 but it's normal to be able to find copies that have a pound or two off.

Nowyouseemenowy0udont · 11/11/2022 11:10

I've been looking for a novelty wine glass for delivery but they're all more like £10 😢

very strange gift if the recipient doesnt happen to have a cat lol.

Does it have to be 'funny'? Does anyone really want one / two 'novelty' wine glasses? Could you just do chocolate / similar?

Livingonjuice · 11/11/2022 18:29

I'd hate a novelty funny gift tbh but each to their own. Maybe a notepad for work with a funny message is a compromise ?

Well speaking of the wine glasses I posted above, yes I would.

I used them everyday until they broke, they are hardly gaudy and unusable.

I dare anyone to read this and not laugh out loud www.wob.com/en-gb/books/bill-bryson/notes-from-a-small-island/9781784161194

I have a Christmas wine glass and I use it at Christmas for wine, but not everyone would. That's generally the problem with secret Santa - for £5 you can't get anything meaningful and most of the joke gifts will.end up in the bin. At least glass can be recycled 🤣

ChimChimeny · 12/11/2022 07:13

Bottle of wine? Or is wine for £5 swill?!

Igmum · 12/11/2022 07:49

Brilliant ideas! I may steal the nice / naughty glasses for Christmas elf antics with my 2 DDs!

Another idea, a she wee. ?!
