I'm so gutted, I looked about a month ago and they were about £80 at Argos, waited for pay day and they've gone up to £110. I wanted to get one for both DCs and that's quite a lot more than I had budgeted. Im wondering if anyone amazing here can find them cheaper or on a cash back deal or anything really. HELP!

Wait for Black Friday they generally go to half rrp on Amazon.

I got Ds's for £60 on Prime day from Amazon. Maybe wait until black friday/cyber monday too see if they come down again.

SpinningFloppa · 08/11/2022 13:15

They will go down they always do, definitely before Xmas I’m gutted I missed them at £25 the other day (not kids version)

Snugglemonkey · 08/11/2022 13:20

I think they have raised the price in anticipation of reducing them. They don't support a number of apps that we need for DC though. We had to get a different tablet in the end as he couldn't use some of the learning apps school wanted him using. So I suggest checking they are fully compatible with what you want to use them for. Up until then, it was a great wee tablet.

The 7 will be obsolete fairly soon, the 8 won't cost much more on Black Friday but will likely last quite a bit longer

mommybear1 · 08/11/2022 14:11

Definitely wait for Black Friday / Cyber Monday.

saywhatwhatnow · 08/11/2022 16:25

Ahh yeah I hadn't really thought about Black Friday, good plan.

And that's interesting about getting the 8, there is also a 10 but it's very expensive. We do have an iPad but they argue over it (and I hate some of the apps) so wanted to get the amazon kids and they can use our Netflix on it. And I can limit it a bit more. What apps did you find weren't compatible @Snugglemonkey

We hated the fires. Unintuitive, slow, the restrictions were terrible. I'd get a second hand iPad or new if money not an issue.

Moro93 · 08/11/2022 17:52

They'll 100% be reduced around Black Friday. The 8 will probably be around £60-£70 for the kids edition, £40 something for just the tablet.

I would definitely go for the 8 if you can afford it, it's a slightly bigger screen but it holds charge for so much longer and is just better all round. My dd has an 8 and my son had the 7, I just recently upgraded his to the 8 for his birthday as my dd's would stay charged for so much longer with the same usage.

specialk9 · 08/11/2022 17:54

Agree with @AriettyHomily Kindle is so poor in comparison to iPad. If you put the controls on you can decide what apps to download on there. Much better money spent imo

Yellowcakestand · 08/11/2022 18:00

Prime day on amazon.
If you are a prime customer for more than 12m you may also be able to pay monthly with no interest too, which is what I did when I got my son his a few years ago.

saywhatwhatnow · 08/11/2022 19:27

We just can't afford an iPad at the moment otherwise I would get another one. I know they are tonnes better. However it is really only to watch kids programs, all the school apps we can still use on the iPad.

I got a kindle fire 8 pro kids one for 70 recently on Amazon so I’d just keep an eye out for the sale

SpinningFloppa · 08/11/2022 19:29

They are fine not everyone can afford an iPad my kids have had them they aren’t the best but they are perfectly fine

I couldn't tell you now tbh. We got a Lenovo as we didn't want to buy an iPad. We got the fire bundle with the replacement promise, which was a good idea as they replaced it 3 times! Not taking any chances on iPads!

What about a refurbished one from CEX?
