Looks like we need another thread so here goes. I'll stick the usual top of thread messages in a follow on post.

Silly question ..but...
Are the oodiees at 5poundstuff ...err..£5 ?

When I look they are £13.99

Am I looking on wrong site ?

Puffalicious · 09/11/2022 21:12

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but they're highly unlikely to be genuine Oodies. Even the photo looks like a much thinner hood. I've had mine almost 2 years and it's still thick and so soft after many washes. I bought the kids theirs too and they've had such brilliant wear out of them and will fit them forever, that they're worth the price. Make one a main present and it's then an investment you don't feel guilty about.

Take a punt with the £5 shop ones, great, but don't count on Oodie seconds, they're most likely a decent copy.

Hi. I’m going Christmas shopping in Birmingham tomorrow which I am excited about as I have never been before.

Any tips for places to go for bargains which I might not spot?

Hello
Depends on what you’re looking for

There’s a decent TK Maxx
Flying Tiger for stocking bits
Ditto a new Kenji in the bullring (there’s a similar store opposite Tiger, but it’s more expensive)
The world’s biggest Primark (or something 🤣)
A lovely H&M Homestore in the bullring
The Christmas markets are on, but they are not cheap!

IamChipmunk · 09/11/2022 21:15

Has anyone used coolkits4u website for football kits? They are fakes so obviously cheaper but I can't find it on trustpilot!

They are in the “VIP” section. I am assuming it is similar to how Pound shops also sell stuff at £3 / £8 etc as “special price”

mac1974 · 09/11/2022 21:32

@Puffalicious I agree with you re the genuine oodies. I hesitated to buy because they were expensive but 2 years on they are good as new & still lovely & fluffy.

Withershins · 09/11/2022 21:35

You are welcome @Beachhutnut @ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner I apologise for the miscommunication to begin with. It is a fabulous discount and I have bought one to prevent my daughter making off with mine!

FlamingBells · 09/11/2022 21:36

@Puffalicious I bought Hooded blanket from Next 2 years ago for dd. It's still going strong, it's very thick and oversized so still fits her. Cost around £20-£25 from what I can remember.

chocolateisavegetable · 09/11/2022 21:54

@BigEaredBob please go into Primark and report back on the Disney cafe!

Great! I'm sure some out there are super quality for a much lower price , all I'm saying is that as we can't see the quality of these on the £5 site before we buy don't bank on them being real Oodies.

BigEaredBob · 09/11/2022 22:02

Ooh @chocolateisavegetable Disney cafe sounds amazing!

Thank you @WorriedMillie that’s really helpful.

AlbertCampion · 09/11/2022 22:50

Hello! I love these threads so much - they get me into the festive spirit! Thanks so much for running them, Reastie.

Can anyone advise me about Kindles? I have a super old one which is giving up the ghost, and wondered if it was worth asking for a new one for Christmas. Is the Paperwhite worth it? Is it likely to be reduced for Black Friday?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 09/11/2022 22:55

I have an oasis and really love it.
I find it easier to hold and it is waterproof

Last time they were in stock, I bought six navy hooded blankets from 5poundstuff. Two were from Primark, three were Kuddly's and one was an Oodie. The company confirmed that they don't sell fakes, only overstock. The thickness and finish quality of the Kuddly's and the Oodie are superior to the Primark ones, but even the Primark ones are very cosy.

Highly recommend!

bizzey · 10/11/2022 00:16

But are they £5. ?

bizzey · 10/11/2022 00:17

They are still showing as £13.99 for me .

roaringmouse · 10/11/2022 00:41

bizzey · 10/11/2022 00:16

But are they £5. ?

No, I think I paid 11.99 each for mine a couple of months ago and looks like they're £1- £2 more than that now, plus delivery. So if you get the Primark ones, the savings are not as great, but for the Kuddlys and the Oodies, the savings are really good.

bizzey · 10/11/2022 01:18

AHH thank you.
I had FOMO ...but I have calmed down now !

@queenoftheglee It was werebrickinit but it has disappered this year 🙁

Restlessinthenorth · 10/11/2022 07:07

Thanks to the person who posted the wine opener. This is perfect the stocking filler for my DP, who I was struggling with!

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/11/2022 07:34

Re skateboard for the poster who asked, if they go to a skatepark as the staff for recommended brands and they might sell them
the sports direct ones are ok for just having a board.
or depending on where you live there are some Indy shops
other than sports direct not always a bargain but £pet use will be better

skatehut and skates web sites are good too and usually have offers
