Anyone found a creative way around this? Family in Germany.
Seems they could be hit with customs charges and a great deal of hassle. Anyone have ideas? TIA

i use to send things over to my brother in Denmark - but not so much now as everything gets stopped by customs

when it does i send over a letter confirming the items are gifts to be submitted to the customs and they usually get released with out charge but it takes 10 days at least

i make sure i follow the guidelines and everything is wrapped in full gift mode!

Find someone who's travelling to the EU and get them to post it from there.

Ordered things from another European country.

Use german Amazon

I have never had a problem. Just clearly marking them as gifts has meant they have never been stopped.

Can you deposit cash into their account and ask them to choose their own gifts. At least they'll buy what they like and won't be hit with surcharges.

Or buy online from a shop in that European country & have it posted directly to the recipient.

Thanks all. I may try and look at German retailers.
