What’s everyone doing for dessert?

I’m thinking of making Pavlova and banoffee pie maybe but always make these for dessert. Maybe some mince pies. Looking for some inspiration for something different, especially anything that can be made in advance.

Apple crumble 😋 it seems to be our dessert of the year 😂 so why not have it Christmas!

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 08/11/2022 07:21

I'm working right up to Christmas Eve without a day off so no time to make anything. I've ordered profiteroles and a Vienetta!

PushingAnElephantUpTheStairs · 08/11/2022 07:36

We're having chocolate and raspberry tart here.

Oh, and birthday cake as one of us has a Christmas birthday.

Smileandtheworldsmileswithyou · 08/11/2022 07:48

Chocolate tart with a ginger biscuit crumb and a boozy trifle.

MuffinFeatures · 08/11/2022 07:55

We’re not big Christmas cake fans, so this year I’m making a ginger Bundt cake 🎄

Runningintolife · 08/11/2022 07:59

I am thinking Mango Chia Pudding but that's because I want something dairy free and lowish carb so probably not most people's needs!

Boringly traditional ... Christmas pudding with homemade brandy butter, cheese for anyone who doesn't like Christmas pud .... and chocolates.

My family aren't really into puds sadly but my DM & I love Christmas pudding.

caringcarer · 08/11/2022 08:18

I always have the same as goes down well, M&S chocolate pofiterole tower and a zesty lemon cheesecake, always ice cream in freezer. Plus lots of cheeses and crackers.

BeastOfBODMAS · 08/11/2022 08:36

Homemade Christmas cake, mince pies

An individual Xmas pud from Lidl for me, with custard. Cheesecake or cream horn for DH

Maybe a Black Forest cake for Xmas Eve hosting, a key lime pie for Boxing Day or New Years depending on leftovers situation

My dessert is now ordered. Chocolate yule log but the sponge bit is chocolate brownie and the middle bit is salted caramel, then it is covered in dark chocolate and sprayed completely gold. Made by a mail order brownie company. Very excited! Now looking for a nice decoration for the top....

🤤 I need this!

My dad can’t eat chocolate so I’ve ordered a fruit vacherin, a lemon cheesecake and an apricot and almond tart from Cook and then I’ll have a very small Christmas pudding for those that like it. I might make a banoffee as well.

JadeSeahorse · 12/11/2022 20:12

Home made chocolate fudge gateau and/or Butterscotch Angel Delight with whipped cream. 😋

YetAnotherWalk · 12/11/2022 20:15

Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. Can make it ahead of time.

Parker231 · 12/11/2022 20:19

We don’t - no one can manage it after Christmas dinner. There is always fruit, cheese and biscuits and chocolate if anyone wants anything.

OrigamiOwls · 12/11/2022 20:25

Christmas pudding for DH's side of the family and profiteroles for my side of the family.

LoveAngelLove · 13/11/2022 18:44

Christmas - salted chocolate pots, mince pies

New Year - baked black cherry cheesecake

happygertie · 13/11/2022 20:25

Im doing a lemon tart with raspberry coulis and a tiramisu. Easy to prepare head of time and can keep a few days if we end up to full to eat it Christmas Day

GettingStuffed · 13/11/2022 20:35

We're considering mulled wine jelly, but it might be profiteroles, ai fill them with squirty cream rather than crème pat. It all depends on how well we've prepped for the day as we're not hosting and it's the first year DD has done it for extended family.

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 13/11/2022 20:51

I'll buy DS1 the smallest pudding I can find.
DS2 and I will eat Rocky Road Christmas Pudding

DH will claim he's carb free, then have some of both.

imnotthatkindofmum · 13/11/2022 20:53

Surely it's just Christmas pudding and various cream/custard options? Why would you eat anything else? 😋

Ohuhu · 13/11/2022 21:06

We'll be having the traditional trifle (bottom layer: raspberries and cherries in raspberry jelly, middle layer Swiss roll slices and custard, top layer: whipped cream and raspberry sauce, plus sprinkly bits).

I'm partial to a bit of Christmas pudding, but I'm literally the only one who'll go near it, so it's never worth getting one. I'm hoping my work Christmas meal will do a decent pud.

ScrabbleChamp64 · 13/11/2022 21:09

Crumble (tradition) and Tiramisu (BILs favourite)
