Vlogging equipment - where to start

My 10 year old has asked for Vlogging equipment to make gaming videos.

Any idea where to start- I can see some Vlogging kits on Amazon is this the sort of things he needs?

what type of camera? He mentioned a go pro which I can’t afford, can anyone recommend anything similar?

what sort of editing software is needed?

just to add he won’t actually be posting the videos online, I’m aware he’s too young. He has ASD and he’s just interested in making them to rewatch and tonshow family.

im a real techphobe, so any help would be appreciated

thanks

Not sure on most of this but I have a go pro style camera from SJcam and it's been brilliant. Mine is an sj4000 I bought for underwater and paddling videos about six years ago now, but still going strong, and I got a bundle of attachments/fixings from Amazon for about £15. Was a fraction of the price of the equivalent go pro at the time :) although can't advise on exact models because I have no idea how you'd go about making gaming videos 😂

Honestly for vlogging a go pro is the cheapest option if you get into DSLRs and Mirrorless camers your looking at £400+ up to thousands.

I am a DSLR user though and found the go-pro crap, maybe I just couldnt figure it out but I would rather stick with a proper camera myself but mine cost over £800 not including lenses.

Although if you have time watch AuthenTech on Youtube, he compairs all the different options of 'action cams' against each other (and against the go pro) so you can see side by side the differences and whats good and bad there might be suitible cheaper options there but dont buy blind a random cheap camera from china likely isnt worth it just because its cheap.

My 10 yo is also ASD and loves vlogging. What ever we buy he always goes back to using my iPhone and apps for editing. I have heard home bargains has vlogging set but haven't seen it myself.
