DD has a smiggle calendar, but I’ve also just got her a reusable one. It’s beautiful but I have no idea what to put in it! The boxes are not too big, and I don’t want to be boring and just put a chocolate coin in but I also don’t want to spend a lot! Any ideas?

Write an activity a piece of paper for some of the days. So for example bake cookies, make gingerbread house, hot choc & Christmas movie, Christmas lights trail, ice skating etc
Depending on how old your daughter is you could put a nail polish, lip balm, headband etc

I had an advent tree and small tree decorations in each pocket. Got 2 packs of 12 decorations.

For a few years it was a slot together tree from cardboard painted green, then a few twigs cemented into a plant pot and all sprayed gold, and now we use a light-up cherry blossom type tree (without the blossoms).

Plus a chocolate each (celebrations, here's etc).

I'm putting jigsaw bits in, but to make it work you need to do the jigsaw yourself first, then split it so each day they get bits that fit together and onto previous days, so it's a bit faffy.

Sprogonthetyne I like that idea!

Fun...

A Vaseline
A sharpener for her pencils
A £1 coin
Earrings
A hair tie or clip
Sweets
A mini perfume like the 2ml samples

Perhaps a treasure hunt ,so in each one is a clue . Only put the clue in the numbered box that morning. And hide the prize according to the clue that morning. Try and make it Christmassy and link it in to things you might already be planning ,ie Christmas baking activity so a new cookie cutter Christmas shape found in tissue paper for example.

Is there any series that she’s into? I picked up bundles of figurines second hand a few times depending on what they liked.

I do this every year.

Christmas socks
Bits of make up
Hot chocolate sachets
£1 Xmas lotto cards
Gloves
Fun snaps
Christmas hair bobble

Some people's advent calendar cost more than our Xmas day stocking.

We do the chocolate coin or quality street. (The "kids" are now 20/21, and still excited...)
