No family secret Santa 🙌

I’m so happy !!! My sisters and I do a secret Santa every year for our kids . We switched to secret Santa for the past few years but I wasn’t really enjoying it . It felt a bit forced . Plus we have 7 kids between us so it was awkward to make work ( 2 kids each and we usually spit on the last one ). Anyway we decided to scrap it this year as the kids get so much for Christmas anyway and it’s one less thing to stress about . I’m so relieved . I hate anything that feels forced and that’s how it was feeling !

Anyway long pointless post haha . Do you like secret Santa? I occasionally do depending on how it’s done !

Omg that would be my dream I have quite a few to buy for but must admit I have already started on it to be honest!!!!
Hopefully next year we can do secret Santa 🎅 I think people will financially scrape by this Christmas however moving forward it could be a different ballgame people will be tighter with money

No secret santa but we had already scrapped gifts for siblings this year. And it’s a relief.

Excellent result OP!

My SIL suggested a few years ago that we stop exchanging presents between the adults and we were all very relieved. Same for birthdays as well.

I'm glad that you got your preferred outcome. Bet the kids still have a brilliant Christmas. Every year there are plenty of posts from people who buy expensive gifts that they can't really afford which is really sad for them.

LookItsMeAgain · 03/11/2022 09:08

We do Secret Santa for the adults in both families.

However, on one side of the family, they will not allow the 'children' (read offspring) who are now tax paying adults in their own right, take part in the Secret Santa. It's really frustrating. I mean they are over 18 and they are adults and well paid adults at what it is they do so could easily afford the budget for the Secret Santa but the one relative that organises the Secret Santa for this side of the family refuses to let them join in.

The other side of the family everyone over 18 takes part. It works a dream!

Congratulations OP!
by the way what did you used to do with the 7th child before? Just curious 🤨

CoffeeChocolateWine · 03/11/2022 09:22

Yes I'm curious about the 7th child too. I'm not sure what you mean just spit on the last one 😂 I have 3 siblings and we all have 2 kids each apart from me with 3. At the moment we do a stupid thing where we have a £5 budget for each child which basically means tat. I've been wondering about a secret Santa with a bigger budget but not sure how it will work with my extra child!

I don't celebrate Christmas, but we do a similar thing on Eid. We call it 'Secret Sahabi'.

I actually quite like it. We do one on my side of the family with all my cousins (majority are under 20), and one with my in laws.

We're all still quite young though I guess and there aren't many kids to buy presents for. On my in laws side there's only 3 children (2 of which are mine) and on my side, I'm the only one with kids.

My opinion might change as the families grow and we have more children to buy gifts for.

@CoffeeChocolateWine We draw names and the last name drawn basically goes to all of us. So if the budget is £15 we put in £5 each and together think of a present to give . It’s lame lol

You spit on the kid? That's not very festive

AllThatAndMore · 03/11/2022 14:15
