Gifts for… Myself

A couple of loved ones have asked me this week what I would like for Christmas and I’ve no idea what to suggest. I’m very much the ‘spend the money on the kids’ type parent but my own parents’ are insisting. Which is super nice but I’ve no idea what ideas to share… the only thing I can think of are Crocs 😅

So my question is… what are you all asking Santa for this Christmas?

I got a kindle paperwhite a few years ago, great for when I'm sitting around at clubs waiting for the kids or reading in bed.

I have a milk heater and frother with lots of flavoured syrups. So I can make myself a nice latte or hot chocolate in the evenings as a treat. (Kids like a hot chocolate too!)

I bought myself a decent shopper bag for when I go out with the kids in the Sales, it's been great for days out. In the past I've asked for a decent backpack or small cross body bag. DH bought me a new purse last year.

New shoes or boots? I got Dr Martins a few years ago and i live in them, one of my favourite gifts.

Big snuggly oodie type hoodie to stay cosy this winter! Paired with a long hot water bottle which is also great for PMT pain too as it wraps right round.

Do you wear jewellery? Maybe a Pandora bracelet if that's your thing so then it's a easy gift idea for future years?

I've got my eye on a cute badger garden ornament!

Tickets for a show and the promise of babysitting? A day out is always my favourite gift, time alone with DH can sometimes be hard to find so nice to go out and enjoy a nice day out together ❤

I was just thinking this today and I've come up with:

Golf sized umbrella
New purse

That's it 🤦‍♀️

Things I already have and love are - boiling water machine for tea and hot chocolate (it boils one mug full of water at a time so much faster than a kettle), a digital tyre pressure pump thing, Amazon Firestick, Oodie and merino base layer long sleeved tops.

Thank you for all of these ideas. I did ask for Dr Martins last year but the ones I wanted weren't in stock. So maybe I'll re-add this year!

I'm just awkward I never can justify someone spending a lot on me that's all.

My dad bought me a magimix and I was VERY grateful - I use it all the time but would never have justified buying it myself.

wibdib · 04/11/2022 18:24

I've surprised myself at the length of my list this year - usually I struggle to come up with 3 things!

This year includes:

  • Good Anker powepack to recharge phone (worrying about potential powercuts!)
  • Good Anker rapid dual charge plug for phone and MacBook and usb
  • Stainless steel or anodised aluminium baking trays (have manky non-stick that need foil - my old SS roasting dishes from John Lewis are still perfect despite being 20 years old)
  • Silicone baking
  • Usb rechargeable hand warmer
  • Brown turkey fig plant
  • Oodie or similar
  • Turtledoves neck warmer (I had one last yr and live in it when it's cold, could do with another one for variety/washing/etc)
  • Pair of lands end fleece trousers - ugly but so cosy warm, if they have a sale
You can see a theme - warmth, energy saving, making life easier for myself!
Titsflyingsouth · 04/11/2022 18:58

A label maker. And I'm RIDICULOUSLY excited by it.

I need help....Blush

All great ideas but yes, there does seem to be a theme for many I speak to at the moment. Practical items more so than anything!

I have a fantasy list and none of the thing on it are of a practical, energy saving nature. I think I'm indulging in some escapism when I think about what I would love:

  • Le Labo perfume - personalised with a romantic message Grin
  • PiP Studio dressing gown
  • Nathalie Lete velvet blanket from Anthropologie - or any of her cushions / ceramics
  • Large box of Leonidas Chocolates
  • Beautiful drinking glasses
  • Rathbourne Dublin Dusk and Dublin Dawn candles to remind me of wonderful trips to Dublin
  • Bobbi Brown makeup
  • champagne
  • book voucher
  • city break back to Prague, Krakow or Budapest
I'm easily pleased Grin
IggyAce · 07/11/2022 15:13

On my wish list is:
Nuxe lip balm
la Roche posay skin care
jacket
dark chocolate
thick socks.

mondaytosunday · 07/11/2022 16:48

there's not really anyone other than my kids (teens) who buy me presents, and they are on a tight budget. My husband and parents are dead, my in laws used to get me a magazine subscription but haven't the last couple years, my sisters live in another country but might send me some earrings or something easy to post.
So I get myself presents! Last year it was a flower subscription which I enjoy all year. I enjoyed the magazine too so when they stopped buying it I took over the subscription. Beauty vouchers - always appreciated those.

Disabrie22 · 07/11/2022 16:56

I would love:

A spa voucher
Bobby Brown eyeshadow palette
fleecy PJ’s
A luxury dressing gown
Olivee Bonas voucher
warm short jacket that looks expensive
A waver heat styler

TragicMuse · 07/11/2022 21:11

I'd really like a baking tin that fits in the airfryer!

There are some books I'd like, I'm always interested in fabric and haberdashery, really good socks, wrist-warmers, a new hottie...small things to keep me warm!

There is a bottle of scent I'd love but it's over £200 so I think I'm going to ask my mum, sister and husband to club together and contribute to it for my birthday.

MammaWeasel · 07/11/2022 22:17

All I can think of is a silk pillowcase, and a pretty biscuit tin.....

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 07/11/2022 22:46

Please please please no Crocs. The world does not need more of those monstrosities!

I would love to receive:

lotions and potions
make up
jewellery - doesn’t have to be expensive, a cute bracelet or earrings
audible subscription
wine
dinner out somewhere.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 07/11/2022 22:51

Oooh, I like the idea of a new duvet and pillows. Or even just a new duvet set. Or a cosy blanket.

declutteringmymind · 07/11/2022 22:53

@NegroniLover

I want everything on your list!

My fantasy list is:

Airpods
Nespresso machine
MacBook
Fancy bedside charger for all my gadgets
A course of hydra facials
Physio deep tissue massage
A night at the inn at whitewell
A day off to binge watch something
A years now tv sub to watch sports.

AnneButNotHathaway · 08/11/2022 09:47

Literally no idea yet! I'm thinking about getting a new laptop, though, because my current one is way too old and slow and the only program that works fine on it is Clipify and I don't do video editing a lot Grin Some of my makeup products also need replacement, so probably that, too.
