Christmas bookcase decoration

My Christmas tree goes next to a very large and packed bookcase. How can I decorate the bookcase so that it looks nice with the tree? I can't remove the books but can push them back.

Just had a quick look at Pinterest, lots of good ideas for you, as well as different styles of shelving. Sorry if they become a rabbit hole!

I just drape a warm white string of fairy lights over the top so it hangs down each side and it looks lovely.

You could turn the books around so the spines are facing inwards (just for the Christmas season!) so you have a neutral background, then add some fairy lights or battery powered tea lights to the shelves, maybe a bit of foliage too?

Our Xmas lights are long so I also drape them on bookcase then have three nails on top and I hang beads down it and hook decs on as well.

We have a couple of Christmas table runners that I staple to the top, so it makes a cloth "cover" for the front.

This is our set up every year

I put strings of fairy lights along some of the shelves in front of the books (led so don’t get hot), have three or four strings that are about the right length for 1 per shelf. Watching fir more interesting ideas though!

Probably saying a dirty word here, but I put tinsel on the shelves.

I knew that would bold the wrong bit! The dirty word was tinsel.

I covered ours one year with cream sheets and ran wide ribbon around the top to finish it.

We push the books back and have battery church-type candles in groups of different heights.

Battery operated candles cast a nice glow on the books and are easy.

I set any Christmas cards received on the shelves, too

I use them for Christmas cards too. Push the non-picture bit between two books so the picture sits flush with, and hides, the books, if that makes sense. Stops them falling every time someone walks past and makes a draft.
