Wrap as you go along or do it in big batches or on Christmas Eve?

I like to wrap once the decorations are up, and preferably the tree, so after the 12th December. I like to get the presents out and look at them regularly and consider if I'm done or if I want to buy some more. I like wrapping and love looking at all the nicely wrapped presents once they are done. I'm autistic and don't like opening presents but love giving to others and seeing them unwrap them.

What paper are you using this year? I've yet to buy any.

When my twins were toddlers we just wrapped empty cardboard boxes instead of buying filler presents just for the sake.... Honestly best thing they had 😄😄😄

Get it all down and wrapped in one go a few days before, then back up in the loft in IKEA bags to come down on Christmas Eve!

Always wrap as I go. I loathe task so prefer doing it in drive and drabs else it’s take me hours.

I wrap in sections. Once I have one person or family’s presents together, I’ll wrap them all and bag them up ready. My back can’t take the mammoth wrapping session any more! 😂

I'm with you on this re tge back!! I used to wrap everything the day before Christmas Eve but spent more than one Christmascwith severe back ache. Now I do as i wrap as I buy, apart from stocking stuff which I still do tge day before Christmas Eve

My DMum will hopefully do most of mine (she likes wrapping presents)!

Definitely not on Christmas Eve. I made that mistake a few years ago and it was not fun!!

Hoping to get everything wrapped and cards posted by 30th November 😊

I wrap as I go because I get embarrassingly excited to give people gifts, so I love wrapping them ASAP and putting them in gift bags. It's so enjoyable to me.

As soon as my DS' birthday is gone in mid November it's full on Christmas. I wrap in batches. I make sure to wrap all the kids stuff while they are at school and I have 'special' Santa paper in two kinds, one for each of my DCs. I don't label Santa presents as it's obvious whose presents are whose as no one else gets that paper because those presents come from the North Pole of course! The rest of the presents I wrap in stages. The thing I always put off doing is writing Christmas cards - but that's a different thread!

This is exactly what I do!! Santa paper included!! I told my friend that I wrap the Santa gifts separately in Santa paper and she looked at me like I had gone mad 😂

Don't forget to order, wrap and post early because of postal strikes in December.

I've ordered and had my New Year gifts posted directed to my parents this year. I'll wrap them when I arrive to save me lugging them over or posting twice.

I do it in batches once the tree is up. Like doing it while watching an xmas film.

FearofQueefing · 13/11/2022 13:25

DS's presents get wrapped all in one batch one evening. Christmas music on, wine opened and tree lights twinkling so I can get in the spirit - love it 😊

kitcat15 · 13/11/2022 13:59

I’ve just wrapped 7 presents…..that’s 15 wrapped now….not many more to go

TheTeddyBears · 13/11/2022 14:17

As you go is probably the best idea. However, I buy most people several gifts and not all at the same time. I like to have a look at it all before wrapping and might wrap 2 things together. So I often do it in big batches but then it ends up a really horrible monotonous task that takes hours and hours (I like to wrap nicely and use ribbons etc).

I also like to look at all the kids stuff too (usually to decide if I have enough but always end up with too much and I also keep a list so I probably don't need to do that).

I thought about doing it differently this year but it will end up bashed and tiered looking surely? Do presents not end up with ripped paper, missing a tag etc?

I put all my wrapped gifts in the spare bedroom …out of harms away and away from the dog and GC …..then just take them down to place under the tree first weekend in december

Like popandchoc I like to wrap bundles while watching a Xmas film, usually one of the cheesy Hallmark type ones. I usually get them done early December but as we are having DDs birthday party at home on the 11th, I'll probably wait until after this so I can put them straight under the tree afterwards without fear of loads of little hands pawing at them!

lionsandwhales · 18/12/2022 00:39

If i was organised enough , I would wrap as I go. As it is, will be waiting for last minute deliveries to finish but will try to do before Xmas eve so that it will be an evening of movies and sofa snuggles with kids. My best year was when DS2 was due on 1st Dec. Had everything bought and wrapped before due date just in case of late delivery etc it was AMAZINGLY satisfying and I felt so relaxed but …..not amazing enough to get my arse in gear in every subsequent year

NewHopeNow · 18/12/2022 10:50

Big batches but definitely long before Christmas eve. The thought of leaving it that late is awful. I have enough to do on Christmas eve anyway and most of it is fun and definitely preferable.
