Gifts for family in New Zealand

Postage from the UK is horrendous so it's hard to post anything bought from here, and I've the years I've sent gifts from pretty much every shop / restaurant local to them .

Does anyone know companies in the UK that do free or cheap postage to NZ, or have any ideas for new, exciting NZ based gifts??

I normally send one family present for everyone (parents, grown up siblings) plus toys for little niece.

Thank you!

I buy them in NZ, online. There’s nothing so special you can’t get it there. Honestly it’s not worth the postage anymore.

I use the Book depository. Not the most exciting choices but easy and reasonable world wide postage. They do a few games/ jigsaw craft type gifts too.

Why not a voucher for an experience local to them? Or books from a NZ based seller.

We have the same problem and have found a local shop that is willing to let us pay over the phone and will drop it up to them for us. Is that an option close to your relatives? It does help that the shop has a good website with lots of their stuff on tho! We've also ordered things from nz websites and some Australian websites will deliver to nz too - can you ask you relative about some places they like over there? What kinds of things are you looking for? Books is quite easy (we've used paperplus.co.nz and whitcoulls) and for gifty stuff we've ordered from islanddesign.co.nz Also there's a fab Facebook group with individual sellers on it and I can't for the life of me remember the name..... I'll come back on if it comes to me. Sorry!

Mighty Ape (like Amazon but just for NZ) has most things.

Lush - standard delivery is $9 www.lush.com/nz/en/c/bath-bombs
Body Shop - delivery is less than $5 www.thebodyshop.co.nz
Pepa Stationery - pepastationery.co.nz - delivery is $6-8
Devonport Chocolates - devonportchocolates.co.nz/christmas-gifts-complete-range/ delivery is $10

Chooice- that's what the Facebook group is with individual sellers - that was really bugging me!

HairyMcLarie · 18/10/2022 20:54

Not much UK stuff you can't get here.

Depends what you were thinking of really but PP suggestion of Chooice (sp) for lovely NZ made goods is a good one.

HairyMcLarie · 18/10/2022 20:55

Also M&S, JL deliver here. Not food though.

User12310 · 18/10/2022 21:19

We use mighty ape. It’s like a much smaller Amazon, but is really quick and easy.

Hi OP

  • If you want to send UK branded stuff then M$S and John Lewis deliver free over a certain amount but they won't send food or cosmetics. Go on the .co.nz sites
  • if you want to send NZ made special gifts then try Chooice

for anything else located in NZ then try
-Mighty Ape (like Amazon)

  • Department store sites such as Smith and Caugheys and Farmers
  • Books- Whitcoulls/book depository
  • Food - Department stores above or Countdown/New World are the main supermarkets
  • wine: order direct from any local vineyard
  • spirits: Society Liquor, Whisky and More
  • Toys: Mighty Ape or the department stores
  • Fancy Tea!: T2

Most UK brands are here: Lush, Body Shop etc.
