I thought it might be useful to have a thread of suggestions for festive foods for the run up to Christmas, and between Christmas & New Year. Times when you want food/snacks for visitors or just to add to the Christmas spirit for the family,. Things that are different to what you’d normally have, but don’t require hours in the kitchen. As many people will have less money this year, lower cost is a consideration too.
Some examples:
Split croissants, fill with a spoonful of mincemeat and heat; or add a slice of cheese and ham to split croissants and heat til the cheese melts.
I’ve done both of those for Christmas breakfast.
‘Sticky’ cocktail sausages made by mixing the sausages with soy sauce and honey (or there are lots of other recipes if you Google) are always a winner, easy to make in large volumes, healthier than sausage rolls.
That said, I love sausage rolls. I find good sausages, skinned, and wrapped in shop bought puff pastry are much tastier than any pre-made I’ve ever had but quicker than making your own pastry.
Or ideas for presenting things more festively - see photo below from Pinterest which I used for when we had the neighbours in for a glass of fizz last Christmas Eve.
I’ll have a think about some more but hopefully you get the gist and might be able share what you have done along similar lines.
