I am finding it difficult to think of something lovely to send. It can't be food because of changes in EU legislation. Has anyone got any ideas? Obviously light weight because of the postage. Thanks.

I order Christmas flowers for our Italian family, they are delivered from the local florist and have always been well received.

Try to order something from an Italian website so the recipient won't receive customs charges!

Be careful not just with weight but also custom duty.

Not sure if it is the same for all of the EU but for Germany the total price of the content can't be more than €35. I split my parcels in two last year and one only arrived mid-January despite sent late November.

This year I will buy via Amazon DE to avoid the problem.

You can use Amazon Italy or other websites and have a domesitc delivery to avoid this.

I use British Corner Shop to send hampers and other nice foodie gifts to countries abroad. They sell a wide range of M&S food and there’s no additional customs duty or VAT charges.
M&S deliver in Italy - order through this website www.marksandspencer.com/it/ - but this doesn’t include food. I’ve used it for toys, board games and smellies.
This is Harrod’s Italian site www.harrods.com/en-it and I’ve also used L’Occitane and The Body Shop’s Italian sites.
