Farm for 4 year old

DS has only mentioned one thing he wants for Christmas so far, a toy farm. I’d like to make this his main present and get him a really nice one. Any recommendations?
He is 4, he likes Lego but I think I’d rather get him something that is just for playing with, not building. He plays with one at after school club which he loves, ideally something which comes with lots of animals (or that I can buy extra animals for). Budget up to about £50.

There is currently a Lego Farm. It's in their 4+ range so it's more simple building.
You can remove the sheep's top layer like you were shearing it.
(I want this for the piglets 😂)

If you want a really nice one, I'd go for wooden. Brands like Tidlo, Le Toy Van and Bigjigs are good. Will be more than £50, but I'm sure there will be discounts near to Christmas, so closer to your budget.

My mum bought a farm set like this (not exactly the same, it was a few years ago) and lots of the Schleich animals and tractors to go with it.

Melissa & Doug

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 04/10/2022 12:34

I would look to see what playmobil do.

Sonyo · 04/10/2022 15:51

I second the Melissa and Doug one. It comes with some animals, but I would add some Schleich ones as well. Schleich also does farm accessories like a chicken coop, wheelbarrow, small veg etc., and I would add a piece of artificial grass/green felt for it all to go on.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 04/10/2022 15:53

The playmobil one is ace

I came here to say Playmobil too!

inappropriateraspberry · 04/10/2022 15:58

I'd look for second hand. I bet there are lots of lovely wooden farm sets that have been outgrown. You might even find a nice handmade one by a dad or grandad!

This one is great and there are lots of other sets that go with it if you want to add more over time.

CbCV · 04/10/2022 18:39

Playmobil would get my vote. Then really easy to add to with other interests/animals/people etc.

My daughter has the ELC rosebud cottage farm which is gorgeous I got it second hand on eBay so not sure what they are new but def wooden is the way to go! Xx

EcoCustard · 05/10/2022 06:15

Playmobil. Either second hand or the smaller one. Dc1 has the big farm, he got it for his 3rd birthday and still plays with it and will be 8 soon. Dc2 has a small pony farm which is great and they all play together. Dc4 is getting a small playmobil farm for Christmas.
Also Have a look at
www.elitetoysandmodels.co.uk/
www.farmtoysonline.co.uk/
they do lots of toys, we have one of the barns and many vehicles that all get played with alongside the Playmobil farm.

Schleich farmhouse. Then add schleich accessories and extra animals over time

Schleich farm is brilliant, very well made and lots of different animals and accessories available to buy separately to grow your farm.

mangomama91 · 05/10/2022 06:55

My first thought was playmobil!

Aug12 · 05/10/2022 07:22

My 4 yr old has the Playmobil one and loves his, it’s the most played with toy in the house

skkyelark · 05/10/2022 08:20

Another vote for looking secondhand. We have a lovely ELC one from eBay for about that price, and they seemed to come up fairly regularly.

canyouextrapol · 05/10/2022 18:32

Definitely playmobil
