I’m really struggling this year for DD15, so far I brought her a few clothing items and few Grogu (mandalorian) room items from Primark. I’ve not even spent £40 on her. She’s not spoiled but she just doesn’t need anything.

Her phone is 2 years old but we brought it her on the condition that it wouldn’t be upgraded until 16 and she would buy her own phone when she had a job. Has a laptop, so doesn’t need iPad or tablet. Has old AirPods which are still absolutely fine so don’t need upgrading. If I gave her money it would get frittered on a coke, a maccys, some sweets. She wouldn’t actually buy anything with it.

what are you all getting your 15/16 year olds this year? She’s in the last year of school, heading to college next year.

Ice cream machine
Hollywood mirror
Wax burner
Sports kit - sweaty betty top and a gym bag from somewhere. Maybe some trainers
Posca pens
Mocktail kit
Throw Throw Burrito game

MrsPnut · 02/10/2022 18:22

We bought DD some of these last year and she wears them all the time. I will probably get her another couple for this year. danielladraper.com/women/sailing-ropes

She also got a shark hoodie from China and some Air Force ones.

mmmmmchocolate · 02/10/2022 20:36

Lots to check out there thank you! @Fivemoreminutes1 my 12 year old would love those pens so I’ve gotten them for her- I’ve never seen them before. An ice cream machine is right up her street so I’ll look into that and the game looks fun, we never seem to play games anymore so I’d like to get something suitable for her age.

@MrsPnut those bracelets are really pretty, I think I’ll ask her what she thinks as she’s bound to have an opinion on the charm. She’s got a few pairs of airforce but her look has gone a bit grungy lately so it might be back to converse or similar.

Bumping for the evening crowd!

If she likes makeup there are some cute holiday kits from Tarte, Too Faced and Kylie. Maybe a nice skincare set, my nieces love that kind of thing. Handbag or rucksack, night in hamper, popcorn, bath bombs, face masks, movies etc.

jackstini · 02/10/2022 21:01

My 16 Dd would like:

Clothes - but she chooses!
Blender/smoothie maker
Sheet face masks
Hotel chocolat
Converse
Money
Gift cards for Costa/Nando's

mmmmmchocolate · 03/10/2022 08:51

@Bananaman123 i love the skincare idea, I’m going to get her some bits and nicely package it myself- her moisturiser, eye gel, face wash. Wilko have got most of the things she uses reduced so I’ll pop in there in the next few days. She has a lot of palettes, but I suppose there’s always one more 😂 Hotel choc is a great idea!

@jackstini yes i think it’s going to be clothes, she will need to be kitted out for college so it’ll be worth taking her now to pick some outfits ready for when she has to think about what she is wearing every single day 😂 she’s been mumbling something about jeans but she never wears the jeans she does get- maybe she will wear them at college rather than leggings all the time!

I’ve got a good starting point to be looking into for now, thank you 😊 Is anyone else around this morning? It’s so much easier shopping for little ones!

This age group is hard because they have developed their own taste by now & they are all really different!
my Dd (slightly older,17) would be things like DM’s, grungy/goth clothes, tickets to gigs or theatre

Exactly this, my DD is 16 and loves gaming and roller derby.
She isn't bothered about make up and she tends to wear Dickies trousers with a turtle neck top for sixth form.

HazeyjaneIII · 03/10/2022 09:01

Have you thought about an experience gift. My daughter was 15 last year and she had already done a Mercedes driving experience so we got her the off road 4 wheel drive one for her 15th. She loved it. (Plus it's not something else to clutter her bedroom!)
Just got my 12 year old a meerkat experience for her birthday as she loved a zoo keeper one last year and asked to revisit the meerkats. Not too expensive but something they remember.

7eleven · 03/10/2022 16:21

Does she need anything like a dyson hair dryer or cloud nine straighteners

My DD got an LP player last year. This year she's got tickets for arctic monkeys and their lastest LP as her main gifts.

TheMadGardener · 03/10/2022 18:46

DD2 is arty so is easy to buy for - there are always new art supplies she wants. For her last birthday (16) I got her a day at a glass fusing workshop at a local gallery centre - she's done a few other workshops like a pottery wheel day, driftwood sculpture etc. She LOVED the glass fusing workshop. DD1 went with her and also enjoyed it despite not being artistic.
DD1 has had a few animal experiences, the last one was walking with alpacas but she's also done zookeeper and donkey sanctuary day.

I like such experiences as presents, they don't clutter up the house!

reluctantbrit · 03/10/2022 18:55

DD is into cosplay so she will most likely ask for some new accessories.
Books
Boardgames, esp. card travel ones as she takes them on Scout/Explorer trips
new make up palette as she needs to throw out some old stuff
Theatre or concert tickets or any other event she may be interested in
If she doesn't have one, a proper make up case
Pens and notebooks
tote bag or purse or phone purse
Experiences like zoo, driving, cookery or baking workshop, art workshop
Overnight trip

My 15 year old is asking for a Vivienne Westwood kneck lace, platform DM's and Gymshark fitness gear and a nice leotard for dance class.

If you are near a DM outlet store, have a look there. Got my daughter a pair of platform DMs for 1/4 of the rrp when we were visiting York. She absolutely loves them!
