Hi! My little boy loves playing with my old little play figures (like 1980s style mini men and women) when he’s at his Nanna’s but mostly he loves playing with the furniture, so the tables and chairs and the little beds etc. it’s really helping with his imagination but we don’t have anything like that at home.

So I’m looking for a house with little furniture and figures that he can play with but so far they’re all too big or branded for Barbie or rainbow high and overly expensive, or have poor reviews!
I saw a playmobil one but it said it was quite fiddly for little ones.
Any recommendations?

Have a look for a second hand one...I got a wooden one on Marketplace for granddaughter for Xmas...£25 including furniture and dolls

Maileg is lovely and sturdy, but it is very expensive.
Djeco houses, furniture and dolls are attractive, well made and quite reasonably priced.
Sylvanian Families houses and furniture are also attractive, very sturdy for plastic items and also quite reasonably priced.
Lundby does a modular house (so you can add extra rooms when you wish) and lovely modern furniture, but it is expensive.
I think either Djeco or Sylvanian Families are your best bet. And you could always mix and match.

Might be too big direct.asda.com/george/toys-character/kids-toys/wooden-toys/wooden-light-up-dolls-house/050222166,default,pd.html?shareProduct=true
Also highly recommended the mellisa&doug take along range, they do a dolls house, a stable or a farm. Available amazon/fenwicks etc.

My DD got the Asda one linked to above for her 3rd birthday and still plays with it most days, it's really solid and nice and works with lots of different toys. Paw patrol live there at the moment. We got the furniture pack to go with it. They frequently include it in their toy sales so worth looking out for money off it.

SeaThingChild · 01/10/2022 14:30

Meant to add she's 5 now and still plays with it all the time and it shows no sign of wear

pimlicoanna · 01/10/2022 14:30

I also really recommend the Asda ones. It's so study and looks lovely.

My daughter has a Le Toy Van dollshouse and furniture and she absolutely loves it - mine was "Pre-loved" as full price they are expensive but still a really lovely toy.

Asda dollshouses are great. We got one a 6 or 7 years ago (not the one linked up thread). It came with everything and was completely blank so you could decorate it yourself. It’s still used daily and still looks amazing. We’ve even bought extras and the Sylvanian Families and Playmobil join in with it. I think it was about £40 at the time. Absolute bargain.

The Asda one is fantastic in terms of quality and price. It’s quite pink. I originally considered paining the roof green, but didn’t and my DSs liked it anyway.

IamChipmunk · 01/10/2022 20:44

My dd has one of the asda ones with the pink roof. Its lovely. Very sturdy and in excellent condition still despite regular playing.
We also got the furniture set and then I got an outdoor furniture set from Aldi to go with it too.
