Hi my teen dd is wanting wireless ear buds for Christmas - I am concerned that they are very expensive for them possibly to get lost!! Are there any good dupes/deals about? I went down a rabbit hole but I have no clue what are good and what arent. Thanks

I always have a set and I usually pay around £30ish for them. I use them a lot - 6-8hrs a day and they usually last me about a year before they have issues with not charging etc. So in my opinion you don't need to pay Airpod prices. The last 2 sets I've had have been SkullCandy which are great.

We got cheap ones and they were no way near the quality of AirPods, connection was dodgy, charging got ropey after a while.

airpods are fairly easy to keep track of- you can locate them with find my iphone, make them beep loudly to find one. Mine I can live track so can wander round the house and the phone will tell me whether I’m getting closer or further away.

I’ve been fairly brutal with mine. Dropped them in the sink while washing up, in the dogs water bowl, they fell out the case on a walk once and managed to go back the next day and find them!

they’re two years old and still working fine. dc have had theirs much longer and they work fine as well.

We bought DS cheap ones for 6 months between birthday and Christmas to make sure he could look after them and he has done. Both sets. The cheap ones can go to school. AirPods don't go to school but they are looked after. Only went missing once but we found them in my car on the app. He just left them in the glove box.

There is a big difference in quality n

I have the galaxy buds pro, i wear them in the shower, garden, out in the rain etc. They're in my ears 8-10 hours of the day and only need charging at night.

Alternatively, Enacfire make decent waterproof ones on a budget

I bought Google Pixel buds and so did DP and they were awful! They were just as expensive as AirPods (or close).

We both decided to return them and get AirPods instead and we love them and use them all the time. Never had a single issue with them.

I get they are expensive but they are worth the money IMO. I'd make it clear if they are lost they won't be replaced!

Good luck with the airpods.

I'll just say for anyone else reading this that i've used MPOW ones from Amazon for about 5 years now and I find them absolutey fantastic. Battery life seems to last ages, you just need to tap one to pause and restart what you're listening to and I pair them to different devices without issue. Range is also quite good so I don't have to carry my phone with me all the time if i'm moving around the house.
