Gift ideas for a teenage girl

foreverhome2023 · 27/09/2022 21:29

Hi all,

I buy for my cousins two girls (4 and 12) and it's getting harder every year with the eldest. Little one is easy as she's obsessed with crafts and any chocolate 😅

12 year old isn't in to make up and her mum always jokes that she has to physically drag her into the bath 😅 so I doubt any body gift sets, make up etc will go down well. Not really sure if she has any hobbies yet apart from hanging out with her friends.

Any ideas? What do you normally get for your teenage girls? Budget is normally £10-£15

TIA

Hard age to buy for!
Spotify membership, Bluetooth speaker, fairy lights, young teen fiction books, card or board games.

indecisivewoman81 · 27/09/2022 21:36

Costa gift card and one of their mugs?

Nail varnish set and files

Fluffy pjs

Resin jewellery making kit

AriettyHomily · 27/09/2022 21:53

Hard cold cash and a bag of sweets!

feckoffbrian · 27/09/2022 21:56

I would always offer a lush bath bomb. One that released all kinds of craziness. This is our favourite and guaranteed to get the biggest soap avoider into the bath tub

Other than that, go with a Waterstones book voucher.
My kids love it when relatives give them this voucher, and promise them an afternoon out, choosing books together followed by having a piece of cake with a drink in a local cafe.

Even if she dosnt like having baths I’d still consider getting products, maybe a little pamper pack, face wipes, shower gel, body spray, body cream. I have these bits for my DDs, they weren’t fussed about them at first but do occasionally use them, it was only when my oldest 10.5 said she couldn’t find her deodorant that I knew she’d been putting it on each day without telling me.

As someone else said having bath bombs might encourage her to take baths.

Otherwise maybe look at some anime or gatcha colouring books and decent pencils or gel pens.

Oodie or onesie from Primark

Calandor · 27/09/2022 22:54

Something for her phone. A cool case or something - glitter, popping bits, a fidget spinner on the back etc.

Try LED lights not fairy lights (LED are gen z fairy are Millenial).

Fancy Starbucks iced coffee tumbler.

Fluffy blankets are weirdly in.

Vintage Nike sweatshirts are also popular.

  • search on TikTok for 'what teens want for Christmas' and you'll find ideas. They folllow similar trends

Make a little hot chocolate kit for her - a nice mug, hot chocolate stirrers/bomb# and mini marshmallows.
Pictionary Air
Mug cake kits
Donut socks from United Oddsocks

This sounds good. Also gift card for new look, amazon etc.

KylieCharlene · 28/09/2022 08:19

I'd go with LED lights. The strip ones that come in a reel and can be stuck around her room. Around £15 on Amazon.

My youngest is 13. Some ideas for her this year are:

Anything with Aristocats or Marie from Aristocats (t shirt, pyjamas etc). She's obsessed.

Hair care gift set as she loves the more expensive stuff that I only buy as a treat.

Books - if she is into reading there are some great value sets at the works or the book people.

Light up mirror

Halo light for all those bloody instagram selfies

Phone case

Fluffy teddy blanket and bedding

American candy gift box

Pink fairy lights for her bedroom

Confusedteacher · 28/09/2022 08:32

If there’s a Typo near you, I’d have a look there, or get a gift voucher. My 12 and 14 year old are obsessed!

TheTeenageYears · 28/09/2022 08:32

Cinema or Starbucks/Costa voucher

abvgd · 30/09/2022 23:50

Bubble tea shop card or bubble tea making kit
Japanese sweets / treats
Korean or Japanese toiletries (sheet masks etc)
Merch related to the shows she likes (eg Stranger Things, Heather etc)

foreverhome2023 · 01/10/2022 09:03

These are all great ideas, thank you so much.
I was going to look at phone gadgets/accessories as I know she's always taking pics, but I've now decided on a Primark voucher (mum saids she's always there with her friends) so she can choose something for herself this way and maybe a nice hot chocolate gift set Smile

Or possibly a bath bomb set as it might encourage her to take a bath 🤣🤣

Glad you are sorted OP but for anyone else out there, I have a 12 year old who is most definitely not into make-up or beauty.

So far, I've got:
Heartstopper Yearbook
Starbucks personalised cold cup
Scratch-off 100 musicals poster
Dogs Trust calendar
Fluffy scarf
Nice leather coin purse
Posca pens

Rheumy · 01/10/2022 11:58

I’m also looking for inspiration for my 14 year old. If it helps others, over the last couple of years she’s been getting into stuff for her room: colour changing lightbulb, faux fur rug, blankets, fairy lights, candles etc. She had a candle making kit from Amazon which is fab & she loves it, was about £15, includes all the stuff with really pretty candle tins. Also polymer clay, she’s enjoyed making earrings. Otherwise Jewellery, fluffy socks, smelliest, hair care (different ways to curl your hair is the current theme 😁), vouchers for favourite shop, Starbucks, Greggs & Subway.

Any ideas for a 12 year boy would be gratefully received 😊

Rheumy · 01/10/2022 11:59

Oh and the wreck it journal was a huge hit a couple of years ago! & Wireless headphones

lugeforlife · 01/10/2022 12:37

Mine got throw throw burrito last year as a joint tree present. Absolutely massive hit. I believe you can get different themes (I saw an avocado version in Waterstones).

That said it is a game for a group and I'd fear for the 4 year old. And breakables.

I am looking at odd socks, jewellery, nail varnish, books - ya stuff, notebooks/stationery, sloth themed treats, colouring stuff, blankets and cushions for stocking/under the tree/grandparent suggestions for my 2 who are 13. My sil gets vouchers from Amazon, new look, primark.

I would also say primark for their pjs and themed stuff would be a good shout.

QuiltedHippo · 01/10/2022 12:39

This is helpful thank you, this year I've acquired 10 and 12 year old step nieces who I obviously don't know well and they live quite a way away, I only know what tinies want!

Icecolder · 01/10/2022 12:59

@Rheumy please could you link the candle making kit?
ideas my 13 year old loves:
highlighters
make up organisers
houseplants
fluffy blankets and socks
chocolate/ sweets!
Nike socks
pyjamas
water bottles

HavfrueDenizKisi · 01/10/2022 13:00

Bubble tea voucher if they have a bubble tea place close to them.

Rheumy · 01/10/2022 13:32

Icecolder · 01/10/2022 15:52
