Ridiculous present requests

DS has decided in what to ask for Christmas from Santa. It's the king/queen's crown. Replica is fine, but needs to be real gold and stones, not a toy. He says Santa is the richest person on earth,so should be fine. I gave checked google for a valuation and it seems to 3-5 billion. Not sure if that was pounds or dollars, but either way is a little out of price range. Reminders that Santa brings all children a present of reasonable value to bring them joy seem to be going over his head, so looking forward to a disappointing Christmas.

Make me feel better. What outlandish present requests have you had?

My 5 year old son has asked for a spiderman costume. But, not like the THREE he already has.. he wants the real one with webs he can shoot and swing from and hang from the ceiling on.
Not sure whether Smyths do those.

Last year DS asked Santa for a baby. DS2 is now 3 months old but DS1 wants to ask Santa for another baby…..

My Ds did this with breakfast with Santa on Christmas Eve.. santa looked at me not knowing how to answer🤣🤣

When DD was 6 she asked for:

A cat
5 dogs
6 bunnies
12 snails
A horse
Some baby chicks
A tarantula

She still maintains that when she grows up she will live on an animal sanctuary.

DD is after a robot that does everything she says. I think I’ll have to slip Father Christmas a note asking him to suggest that that will take the elves a few years.

How about an Echo Dot?

My son is adopted. His first Christmas with us (age 5) he decided to go through the Kleeneze catalogue and picked stuff from there. He was so excited that he got to do a Christmas list for the first time that I had to go off and have a little moment. Needless to say, he got everything on the list!

Ancfib · 27/09/2022 11:10

A trampoline... We live in a flat 🤦‍♀️

Montague22 · 27/09/2022 12:03

My 5 year old suggested I sneakily write extra items onto the bottom of her brother’s lists after they’ve written them. This is so I don’t have to pay for them- ingenuous!

My nephew wanted a dinner gong he saw in an antique shop window, and a three piece suit. He's the oldest nine year old I've ever met.

HoHoHowMuch · 27/09/2022 14:30

@Sead that looks amazing!

@Montague22 future Martin Lewis? He has done alright out of money saving tips.

HoHoHowMuch · 27/09/2022 14:32

@MorrisZapp will he be making dinner too? Or just hitting the gong when he is ready to be served?

A real fairy and a real unicorn. Both requested by the same child and at the same Xmas.

My 6 year old has said he's going to ask for a Lamborghini 🤷

My dad asked for a porche for many a Christmas when we were kids.... he got a matchbox one! (Which he still has!!)

feckoffbrian · 27/09/2022 18:55

DS requested an iPad.

No way.

His second choice was a kinder egg.

GetOffTheFrog · 27/09/2022 19:19

Ten real life unicorns.
And to have four hands.

Speedweed · 27/09/2022 19:27

This is such a lovely thread, I'm really enjoying reading everyone's requests

BillyBobBear · 27/09/2022 20:14

The antique gong and three piece suit really made me giggle. What an absolutely fantastic request 😁

DD10 keeps banging on about a smart watch. Even though she can't wear it to school. No!
DS never knows what to ask father Christmas for and I always have to guess 🤔

ChristmasLightsAndSparkles · 27/09/2022 20:17

@Montague22 - I love that she suggested you put your extras on her brother's list not her own, presumably in case she got fewer of her own choices Grin She truly will rule the world one day Grin

Whatifthecathatesthebaby · 27/09/2022 20:32

A flying chair, the specifics were not forthcoming. There was also the year she asked for a Horsey Twinkle Toes, that seems reasonable except it was 1 week before Christmas and the only ones available were in the US.

My DS7 is into Boom City Racer toy cars. They are small blind pack toys where you can’t see which special collector car you’re getting. He has collected a fair few over the past year and is desperate for the one with lights and sounds called ‘Cop That’. I suspect it’s very rare. However we’re at the stage where he already has multiples of some of the cars and we can’t afford to waste any more money trying to get hold of this car. So he’s come up with the wonderful idea of asking Santa, because Santa would be able to get/ make one. I’ve looked on eBay for a used one with no luck. I think it would be easier to get gold of a unicorn.

ChristmasCwtch · 27/09/2022 21:49

@greycrayon can you sell his duplicates on eBay and then buy more? I’d also write to the manufacturer 😂

I hate blind box toys for this very reason!! I spent so much money at the M&S food hall collecting the tiny plastic food toys 😆

Is there a Boom City collectors group on Facebook?

greycrayon · 28/09/2022 11:40

Good idea but I think he discovered them a bit late and they’re not popular anymore so there doesn’t appear to be a market for them on eBay. We’ve only seen them in The Entertainer; they’re on Amazon, but very overpriced. Looking for a Facebook group is another good idea but I’ve just checked and I can’t see any. I will write to the manufacturer - it’s worth a go! Thanks for the ideas 🙂

When DS was at nursery he wanted a real space rocket. We bought one of those cardboard rockets that are about 1.5m tall that kids can decorate - he liked it but still hankered after a real one.

He is now at university studying space engineering so I guess that he may get his wish one day!
