Ridiculous present requests

DS has decided in what to ask for Christmas from Santa. It's the king/queen's crown. Replica is fine, but needs to be real gold and stones, not a toy. He says Santa is the richest person on earth,so should be fine. I gave checked google for a valuation and it seems to 3-5 billion. Not sure if that was pounds or dollars, but either way is a little out of price range. Reminders that Santa brings all children a present of reasonable value to bring them joy seem to be going over his head, so looking forward to a disappointing Christmas.

Make me feel better. What outlandish present requests have you had?

DS ages 3 once asked for a real chain saw and small pink pants for me.... FC (or one of the Dads from
school) has never let me forget it!!!

HoHoHowMuch · 26/09/2022 22:38

@CoffeeLover90 that's so beautiful. I am so pleased you got your seal.

@PinkyU that's a lot of money for a crown the size of a thimble!

Ds2 this year plans to ask for a money infinitiser. He's going to share the cash with us so that's good.
When ds1 was 3 he asked for fire engine he could sit in. We lived in a flat at the time. I found a fire engine tent for £10 from Argos and he adored it.

Moro93 · 27/09/2022 03:33

My son who just turned 4 has requested Ribena for Christmas! Yep, he wants a blackcurrant drink. He has been saying this for weeks so I think Christmas might be cheaper than expected this year...

DS wants a magic wand. Not a toy one, he's got lots of those, but a real one that does magic and will tidy up after him and make him food. Tempted to just wrap myself up

Unless he's not around I'd wrap his Dad up instead, 2 for 1 Christmas gifts, you get a day off. H cleaning up would certainly be akin to magic here 😏.

Moonshine5 · 27/09/2022 03:39

2 orangutans with an area partitioned in the garden for them to play.

Inthetropics · 27/09/2022 04:21

When I was around 7 I invented a magic place (Magic World) and convinced most children I was friends with that is was real. We colectively asked santa to take us there for Christmas day. My mum was not happy, tried to reason with me that I'd be far away from her, that she'd miss me, that I'd miss Christmas day, etc. In the end I was convinced that Santa had taken me there in my dreams. It was lovely.

My son wants a mechanic outfit but not a pretend one a real one! 🙄

Don’t know if he means overalls, but I know lots of farming places do proper kid size ones. Don’t get him tools or you may find a dismantled car.

Feelinghothothottoohot · 27/09/2022 07:17

@Looking4wards does your child watch my pet dinosaur and Andy prehistoric adventures? Cbeebies seems to give kids unrealistic expectations...

Just asked my 3 year old..... she wants a new dolly.... phew already sorted 😅

I dread asking my 5 year old

WonderingWanda · 27/09/2022 07:37

My pre teen ds got bit outlandish with the price theast couple of years. When it was suggested that might be a bit expensive we got a raised eyebrow, cheeky smile and the comment 'but santa makes the toys and it doesn't cost him anything?' Clearly he knows and is pushing his luck.

Wheelz46 · 27/09/2022 07:46

Mine asked for the moon, the actual moon to see if it tasted like cheese!

ditavonteesed · 27/09/2022 07:53

When dd wa about 4 she asked for a baby belle (the princess doll from Disney store), she did get that but first to open she got a pack of baby bell cheeses. She was not amused I thought it was the wittiest thing ever.

Blowthemandown · 27/09/2022 07:53

@JustFrustrated has she been watching Blackadder? The episode where Percy invents ‘green’ when he trying to be an alchemist and wants to make gold?

Lullabies2Paralyze · 27/09/2022 08:01

@JustFrustrated isnt green slang for cannabis 🤣🤣😂

Ds once asked 'to BE Peter Pan at Xmas & also forever' (he's Autistic so that lasted a while). Now he'd like a Land-rover. Or a fort. The real one in Wales that's for sale.
Dd wanted many cubes of tissue boxes to build a fort (i sense a theme here) & a 1 kilo block of cheddar cheese 'just for her'. She got them. Her Dad, now my exH, ate most of her special (cheap smartprice) cheese on Boxing Day evening, despite the fridge being rammed with fancy Xmas cheeses. He just got his ASD Dx, aged 58 ...
Oh, Christmas is fun in our house (we had ' OHIIMC' by Slade on at top vol as we drive through the quiet sleepy Borders on Sunday (Dd excited already...)

Whats OHIIMC?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 27/09/2022 08:13

"An owl, or a falcon, or and eagle, or a hawk" - DS, then aged 4.

He got a soft toy owl, who has been a constant companion for 10 years. He's also adopted an owl at the National Bird of Prey Centre in Helmsley, and volunteers with a more local bird rescue charity.

Sometimes crazy requests aren't do crazy to the child!!

Maybe the child who wants a replica crown will be jewellery designer to the stars in 25 years time?

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 27/09/2022 08:17

Looking4wards · 25/09/2022 22:29

DS wants a pet triceratops, specifically one that will dance on the table.
I did point out that they're extinct but apprently we're so silly because we can just use a time machine to go back in time and bring one back.

You’ll need a big table.

Ridiculous present requests
LouLou198 · 27/09/2022 08:27

Dd once asked me for a T-Rex, a real one she could keep in the garden!!

bigbluebus · 27/09/2022 08:30

My DS once asked Santa for a villa in Spain with a swimming pool. (We'd taken him on holiday to one in the Summer).
We did one of those Letter from Santa things in which Santa very kindly managed his expectations by telling DS that he didn't think he'd be able to manage that but he'd be sure to bring him something lovely instead. Seemed to do the trick.

Green.

My youngest asked for green.

To this day I still have no idea what she actually wanted. I got her a dinosaur.

When my DS was about 5 or 6, the first item on his list was 'a tin of laim green paint'. I asked him what he wanted it for and he said that he wanted all his things to be 'laim green'.

Eeksteek · 27/09/2022 09:12

An actual space rocket. I pointed out such things were not domestic items, and she countered that Wallace and Grommit had one.

She made and put out stockings one year for her favourite stuffed animals. At the time, they were a dog and a rabbit, so a carrot and a couple dog treats sufficed. The precedent was dangerous, as her favourite stuffed animals changed all the time. Sometimes daily, sometimes they lasted months. It could quite easily be something a relative treated her to on a pre Christmas Day out, so there was no planning for it. One year I had to think up a gift for fucking pterodactyl called Fifi. Other years included desirable items (sometimes specified, sometimes left to my imagination) for a panda, a Guinea pig, and arctic wolf and a seal.

We are both so glad she doesn’t believe any more. It was horribly stressful for both of us. Funny, I’ve very fond memories of the whole business as a child, but she didn’t enjoy it at all, really. Obviously she liked the presents, but not the process. I always felt the opposite.

Porthia · 27/09/2022 09:22

My DD was adamant she wanted a flying reindeer. She reckoned Santa could spare one and she kept talking about how she would fly straight to the playground at school in January…

In the end she got a letter from Santa explaining that he needed all his reindeer for pulling the sleigh and a small toy reindeer - but, weirdly, 2 deer appeared in our garden on Xmas morning. Just standing on the lawn looking in to the house. This has never happened before or since. DD was like “HE CHANGED HIS MIND!” 🤦‍♀️😂

ImNotReallyHere · 27/09/2022 09:38

I once asked my friend’s DD if she had got anything nice for Xmas and she did a disappointed sigh and said not really. Turns out she had asked for fairy dust that would make he fly and Santa hadn’t delivered it.
