Alternatives to wrapping paper?

Has anyone made fabric gift bags to be re-used every year? I’m toying with the idea, but 1. Don’t know what size the gifts will be this year 2. Are they too easily opened by inquisitive children?
pros, much less waste, can do different patterns for each person, can coordinate with theme of decorations (should this be on the poncetastic thread?), can be reused every year.
Has anyone got a good pattern they can recommend? Thanks :)

I do these. Additional con: they are far less satisfying to open. If you do go ahead then consider using Velcro to close them so you get a satisfying rip when they're opened.

They make wrapping a heck of a lot easier. You need a variety of shapes and sizes. They are not so good for larger gifts so if your DC are still into large lumps of plastic, maybe try brown paper ink-stamped with a Christmassy motif instead?

I also reuse Amazon gift bags. I try to only buy paper for stocking presents.

Yes we use all sorts of different fabric, but find squares are much more versatile than bags and you get to unwrap as they are tied, they look gorgeous all tied up in piles. I would say they are better than wrapping paper at making an exciting looking pile.

I use parcel paper as easier to recycle and my little one can doddle on it
