I’m really really stuck this year for ideas for my youngest DD…she isn’t really into anything particular she will play with whatever as she’s easily pleased. I think I find it more difficult as she’s had lots passed down from older DD so she’s got lots already.

Please send some ideas my way…

DD had a junior spirograph and light up tracing pad last year when she was 4.5. Both get a lot of use. The spirograph will probably be replaced with the regular version at some point but the pad will be good for years I think.

WeAreLateAgain · 22/09/2022 09:05

A box of Kapla, it will last for years and years and years. Start with the 200 pieces box and then you can always add.

psuedocream3 · 22/09/2022 10:16

My almost 4 year old will be getting a yoto mini, card and headphones, wooden playfood and utensils etc for her play kitchen, books, duplo and learning resources toys. She has additional needs so I have tried to pick things to help her with her emotions and meldowns - colour monster books, scribble dot set, sensory toys etc. I'm hoping the yoto player will help her when she needs to retreat into herself when things get a bit much around her. I had considered a micro scooter but with it being a cold winter, and the cost, it may be more a summer gift.

The only thing mine has asked for is one of those fairy gardens where you get a dish, house snd seeds and it grows.

shes 5 soon and between birthday and Christmas I have got on the list

  • new playdough
  • new drawing pad and pack of paint sticks
  • toy sweet shop (got second hand in charity shop) and will fill the little jars with some sweets!
  • orchard toys game
  • sylvanian family sets and I’m looking at one of the houses as her main Christmas present
  • Possibly the crayola light up tracing pad
  • sparkle craft set or similar
  • Couple new Yoto cards
  • she loves soft toys and the gorgeous harp seal pup that was on frozen planet the other night so possibly a cuddly harp seal :)
  • We have the super space toy and they recently released rectangles so might consider that as joint preeent for her and her sibling
  • i loved the bluebird yellow teapot as an 80s kid, really tempted to get one second hand!

Lalanbaba · 22/09/2022 23:40

Are you guys getting some sort of paper catalogue?
My soon to be 4 kiddo, has asked for some new pups (AKA more Paw patrol stuff), red paint and a giraffe. But when I read these lists seems that everyone has very specific items been requested.
I have to Google at list half of the stuff just to see what they are!

HeddaGarbled · 22/09/2022 23:54

One year, mine asked for face paints and a skipping rope. That was a nice cheap year.

Pufferpuffin · 23/09/2022 06:33

@Lalanbaba no mine is just stuff I thought she’d like. I haven’t heard of a lot either and mine aren’t crazy about playmobil. Shocked by how expensive the our generation stuff is! I do remember Polly pocket from the 80s!

psuedocream3 · 23/09/2022 08:42

@Fivemoreminutes1 My daughter loved it when they did the caterpillar butterfly garden at school, it would have been the perfect present except it says you can't order the caterpillars until March, I don't think she will be happy to wait so long to use it. Have put on my to buy list next year though

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 23/09/2022 09:37

No catalogue here. Its mostly stuff she's seen either when we are shopping for birthday presents or stuff her friends/cousin etc have. One friend has a big sister with a massive Our Generation collection for example. The odd advert from Sky too. No idea where the book about Goddesses came from though.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 23/09/2022 10:02

There are some lovely ideas on this thread. My youngest is 4 but loves playing with her 10yo sister so tends to go for things aimed slightly older (or certainly older than when DD1 was 4). She'll be getting...
Magic Mixie (she loves the little mixlings so hoping this will be a hit - got a good deal on it!)
Glitter tattoos kit
Colour-in pillow case
Lego dots (she's asked for this but trying to find something age suitable - May end up getting a normal Lego set instead!)
Sylvanian Families stuff
Squishmallow
Bath bomb set
Books

After reading this thread, purse pets and the Djeco gingerbread set are also going on the list!

Pufferpuffin · 23/09/2022 10:10

My daughter got the djeco gingerbread set last yr. it’s really lovely and gets played with a lot :)

psuedocream3 · 23/09/2022 18:30

Thanks @17caterpillars1mouse and @Pufferpuffin I have ordered the djec gingerbread after seeing you mention them. Finished shopping for child 4 now :)

AiryFairy1 · 23/09/2022 18:44

Umbrella / backpack

Beads and thread

Outfoxed (cooperative board game)

dress up stuff (I once bought a load of scarves/pashminas from a charity shop and they were used for YEARS)

facepaints - we have similar to this but with 12 colours - it was used as an activity at the party but has been used a lot since Face Paint Metal Paint Box 6 Colours with a Brush amzn.eu/d/362BEMr

scrivette · 23/09/2022 19:37

DD would like

New scooter
Umbrella
Puzzles
Princess/Mermaid/Unicorn Playmobil
Lego Disney Castle
Lego
Dolls wardrobe
Clothes for her dolls
Designa Friend dolls accessories

The Designa Friends dolls are very similar to Our Generation dolls (I think their faces are nicer) and are from Argos. I have been very impressed with them and are cheaper than OG dolls.

Myleakycauldron · 24/09/2022 20:18

Ooh some good ideas here. My DD also doesn't have any specific list (if we go into shop she would want every toy but she doesn't know what they are really!)

We were thinking about walkie talkies but haven't researched yet.

Givemeallthegin8 · 24/09/2022 20:31

I ordered some of dd4 last night for Christmas, it’s hard as a lot has been passed down from older sibling but they’ve both been pouring over the smyths catalogue for the past two weeks !

play dough ice cream truck - looks pretty impressive !
kinetic sand - she loves it
gooey Louie board Game
jenga
gabbys dollhouse cat
gabbys dollhouse ears
make up set
lol balls
squishville Duvet set
lcd writing board ( got the idea from thread here )
lol tween babysitter set
lol watch
lol stationary set
small box of squishies
jewellery set

will pick up some books and arts & crafts supplies too

Cantthinkofausername01 · 24/09/2022 20:48

@Lalanbaba I took my little into smyths and she showed me what she would like from Santa (the whole shop) so I just shortened the list down abit
