I wouldn’t stress about it - from what I know of you testing things are either suitable from birth or 3+, there’s no in between. If the Smyth’s one is painted then it’ll be 3+ purely in case any bits of paint come off whereas the Grimms one is stained so safe from birth. If you’ll be supervising your little one while playing 3+ should be fine.

@Maharajah20 we have Ticket to Ride Europe which is much adored. We also then have various expansion packs, but you need the original to play them. The original is my personal favourite.

The Works have a clearance sale on in store - picked up some Harry Potter bits for DD8 - fat quarters, pencil case and notebook for £12, and a science book for DS10 for £4. There were a few recipe and craft books and some garden toys, bubbles and balls.

We bought my dd the basic Hobbycraft machine for her 8th birthday and it's been great. She's nearly 10 now and uses it loads. Was about £50 at the time.

Can anyone remember when Hotel Chocolat usually do their offer? I know they've had a few hampers with various codes in previous years but can't remember when they went on sale.

My sister bought me the John Lewis mini one when I expressed an interest in seeing again. I used it until it broke - after about three years of heavy use - and then upgraded to a bigger machine. I think it’s a great starter machine and they do bright colours.

I bought the velvetiser last year and it's amazing. Unfortunately my daughter put the whole unit in the sink to wash and has killed it, so now need the best offer to replace it.

Keep an eye on QVC. They have great deals. Some running now.

John lewis do accidental damage insurance cover for things like this. I know its a long shot but I don't suppose she got it from there and got cover? Cover is normally really cheap.

@Amazonmulu how old is daughter what she want it for? My children have a kindle yes they are for books but actually they hold all the latest apps too Netflix and they have a game store too also use of the Internet for homework ect and cost about £50 but sometimes get reduced to £30/£40.
