Homemade advent calendar for 15 year old girl ideas.

I’m planning on making an advent calendar for my 15 year old daughter who is having a bit of a hard time at the moment.
she has just had a health diagnosis which is going to affect the rest of her life so wanted to do something a bit special and personalised to her.

I was thinking along the lines of self care/pampering/me time

I have bought little boxes which are 5x5 cm and trying to come up with a list of what to fill them with.
budget is about £40 max.

so far I have thought,

little bath bombs
lip balms
little stationary bits
hot chocolate sachets/marshmallows
she likes a face mask but they all seem to be larger flat packets which won’t fit in the boxes.
will probably add some chocolate in there somewhere as well.

She likes Friends and marvel and isn’t particularly girly.

oh and nail varnish is out as she doesn’t really have finger nails (part of her condition)

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

With the facemasks, I would put a little "see mum" note in the box. I have a lovely old advent calendar that was mine but the pockets are teeny. I usually stick a chocolate coin in each pocket and a see mum note. I then have a bag of wrapped goodies to hand out. I have given little fairy lights for their room, stationary, facemasks, enamel badges, chocolates, stuff for a christmas movie afternoon.

You sound like a lovely mum.

I’m sure I’ve recently seen pots of face masks somewhere. Just googled and found these

maybe Xmas themed jewellery, I bought my nieces some nice earrings and necklaces from shein last year that went down well.

i got my DDs bracelet advent calendars last year, they got lots of Xmas charms, I was going to buy them more charms this year, my DDs like star wars so was looking at getting some cheap ones off aliexpress. I didn’t want to attach another big link so attached a pic. They also do themed makeup brushes, but they may be to big for your calendar.

Yankee candle votives will just about fit. You can get some lovely Christmassy scents.

You can get mini body butters here www.ninesoap.co.uk/shop-mini-bodybutter.html

Hair clips? Or scrunches/bands? Pair of earrings? Keyring?

Stompythedinosaur · 13/09/2022 11:22

Sample bottles of perfume? Can pick them up for free sometimes.

My dds like gemstones, but they are a bit younger.

For things that don't fit, you can put a note in the box saying "Look in..."

There’s a good deal on the bargain thread for a burts bees cracker (lip balm and hand balm) so two days for under £4.

thaegumathteth · 13/09/2022 15:04

Also last year I bought a Christmas phone case from shein - think it was £1.25 or similar

Afolnerd · 13/09/2022 16:28

Some great ideas. Thank you all.

I have just ordered some perfume samples from eBay and will definitely get some earrings and some make up bits.

I also love the idea of a note and hiding things that won’t fit.

My dd is coming up to 14,
How about
Pin badges? We buy hers from shein and wish mostly.
Mini funko pop figures? You can get Marvel ones as we have several, think they are called pint size heroes. Or funko do keyrings.
Lego keyring or little figures? If you aren't worried about them being official I bought quite a few from here, you couldn't tell the difference and the names are hilarious! www.werebrickinit.co.uk/
Earrings?
Tiny squishmallows? My dd loves her little duck he is good for her to squeeze when she feels a bit stressed or anxious and is pocket sized!
Art supplies if she's into that?
A little note/voucher with an experience, so a movie night, pamper evening, going out for a hot chocolate, trip to a Christmas Market with some money for a new decoration or treat, computer games evening, board games night etc with a mini medal for the winner!
