Hello!
This year I am getting one of those fillable Advent calendars where you can put a gift in each drawer.
I have some ideas but I definitely need more.
So far I have
Xmas stickers
Hair ties
Lip balm
Stamps for Xmas cards ( as activity later in the day)
Tickets for panto
Tickets for going to see 🎅
Mini cookie cutter to make cookies (activity too)
Chocolate coin (couldn't miss this)
Xmas tattoo
Is anyone doing similar that can give me some extra ideas?

I could have wrote this! Great ideas. Does anyone have any really cheap/diy etc. ideas as I only have a budget of around £10, £15 at a stretch

Flubadubba · 13/09/2022 17:03

One year we did finger puppets. They went down really well and were very cheap on Amazon

southlondoner02 · 13/09/2022 17:43

We use some of the same things every year including some Christmas themed finger puppets. Also things that come out every year eg leave a note saying 'look under the tree for the Christmas books'

Also I try to link it to events eg if there's a Christmas party at school will put in a Christmas hairclio to wear. Be aware though that they're less pleased with cheap bits as get older so you might want to think about setting up expectations that they get something new every day

Have also done a cheap bundle of second hand Xmas play mobile one year - think it was about a fiver but I did get it quite early in the year

What about jewellery? Like a little necklace, a ring, bracelet…?

My dd is 3 and she’s obsessed with all kinds of toy jewellery. I’ve bought her a Frozen cracker from Argos for her Stocking, £6.50

Thanks everyone for the ideas.
Little one would be happy with a chocolate a day but I wanted to add more things.
I will add one tree ornament for the day that we are decorating the tree (ours is a natural one that lives in the garden)
A balloon (absolutely loves them)
A badge
A ticket for a movie night (at home with popcorn)
I will keep thinking for more ideas

What about some seeds or a bulb to plant and watch grow?

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 13/09/2022 21:17

If you have a bigger gift one day, you could set it up as a treasure hunt with the first clue in the advent calendar drawer.

@Lalanbaba I always put a Christmas stamp in for Dec 1st so they can send their letter to Santa..
@Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough I have 4 Dc so mine have to very cheap. Most days I put in a chocolate (Lidl/Aldi do tubs of little Santa’s then write on a piece of paper something to do, ice biscuits, decorate the tree, make paper snowflakes. We go to the panto Christmas Eve so I write a ticket for that. I don’t put much in now as they expect too much.
