I’m a teacher and I always recommend this website to parents as a suggested reading list:
reading list reception
reading list year 1
Hopefully you will find it useful too 😊

Is she starting to read chapter books yet? I'm guessing she isn't far off, because some of the picture books you mention have a reasonable amount of text and/or trickier words. I have a recently-6yo, and in the last year she has enjoyed:

Picture books:
The longer Dr Seuss books such as The Lorax, The Sneetches, Oh The Places We'll Go!
You're Called What?
The Koala Who Could
Sandcastle (Philip Bunting)
The Giant Jam Sandwich
Dinosaurs And All That Rubbish
Revolting Rhymes
The Enormous Crocodile
Dirty Beasts
Oi Cat! series
Mog series
Tyrannosaurus Drip
Mopoke (not a lot of words, but funny. Both my 6 and 8yo continue to love it)
Brambly Hedge series
Usbourne 'Look Inside' series

Beginner chapter books:
The Princess In Black series
Billy And The Mini Monsters series
Dogman series
Esio Trot
The Magic Finger

She's also started to enjoy listening to us read longer chapter books to her. We are currently reading Danny Champion Of The World.

Oh, and the Happy Families series! That has been a huge hit with both DCs at that age. And Funnybones.

The Runaway Pea
The squirrels who squabbled

  • The pigeon needs a bath series
  • James Mayhew's Katie series
  • Winnie the witch picture books (not so keen on the chapter books)
  • The Book About Moomin, Mymble and Little My is really amazing, with the way cut out pages take you through the story

Frog And Toad books by Arnold Lobel are wonderfulbooks for young readers.

My daughter loves the usborne fact books, they have flaps and she loves to learn. Her favourite one is bugs homes!
Also I got the offer at the works that was 10 books for £10. I got her Cinderella and snow white 'im a reader' books
They were reception age reading so she likes to read them on her own too, they have fun little games in the back too!

Join a local library and take her there regularly. Let her browse and choose.

We already do this, I don't think there's anything wrong with her owning some books too.

Thanks again for all the suggestions Smile
