Experience gifts ideas for teens

Worriedmum42 · 09/09/2022 09:10

Hi, rather than lots of 'stuff' I am looking at experiences.

Any ideas for experience gifts that a 13yr old girl might like??

She is animal mad and has done things like llama trekking, junior zoo keeper.
We have done things like theatre trips, Harry Potter World (when she was younger), annual passes for wildlife parks, concert tickets.

Open to all ideas - especially if it is a bit different/unusual.

Many thanks

Falconry/bird flying experience

Adopt an animal with tickets to go and see

Is she the sort of girl who likes shopping? Virgin experiences have shopping experiences at Bicester Village if you are anywhere near there

Worriedmum42 · 09/09/2022 16:42

We have done both the birds of prey experience and adoption but will take a look at the virgin experiences.

Thanks

New Forest Wildlife Park does a keeper experience that is more 'hands on' than zoo ones tend to be.

Otherwise

  • speed boat / rib
  • helicopter ride
  • indoor sky diving
  • motor track
Worriedmum42 · 09/09/2022 17:00

She did a 4 day Safari academy in the last week of the summer holidays - as she wants to study zoology which was really hands on.

I think I might investigate a helicopter ride though that could be fun. Her dad would enjoy that too!

Thanks

Under ground trampolining
Scuba diving

Worriedmum42 · 09/09/2022 17:03

Ooh underground trampolining - I have never heard of that! Another to add to the list to look at.

Thanks

DH got me a glider experience. It was far more enjoyable than I expected! I got to try out 2 gliders- a modern one with perspex bubble over you. Also an older style which was open to the air and I had to wear those old school, leather flying goggles on! It was great fun.

A work college was given a taxidermy class for her birthday once. She got to stuff a squirrel 😮Clearly not for everyone, but certainly different!

Just check if the experience you choose has any height or age restrictions.

Worriedmum42 · 09/09/2022 17:52

Thanks.

Yes I was wondering about her age so will need to check that on things.

Helicopter absolutely terrified me when I accompanied DD1.
How about a massive zip wire like the one at The Eden Project or that place in Wales (which might be the underground trampoline place too.)

Can you tell me more about the Safari academy?

TeenDivided · 09/09/2022 17:59

Just remembered another Husky driving.

Fiddledeedeeee · 09/09/2022 18:43

We did the crystal maze experience in Manchester (there’s one in London too) which went down well with the tween in our party (you’ll get put with others if there are fewer than 8 of you I think, wasn’t a problem at all).

I’ve also seen that there’s a similar ‘I’m a celebrity’ experience but know nothing about it.

Was going to suggest this . I think there are other wildlife parks where you can do this too.

Hi
It was at Woburn Safari Park but other zoo/wildlife parks do it.
Age 13-17yrs and 4 full days.
All sorts covered including cleaning out rhinos, giraffes, tortoises, making enrichment for monkeys, going off road in the keeper jeeps, animal observations, prepping food for wallabies, enrichment in with meerkats plus other stuff I'm sure I've forgotten. Some lecture on different aspects animal care, careers etc
My daughter loved it and is saving for the one at Whipsnade but I think you have be 15 for that one.

Lots of great ideas!

She does like sushi so a sushi class would be cool and maybe the chocolate making too - I did that one Easter and it was good fun.
