Seeking Mumsnetters wisdom

i had an idea for my impossible to buy for brother, mid 50s, lives alone.

He likes some cooking, can make a curry or bolognese.

Has anyone bought a food delivery such as Gousto or Hello Fresh? I don’t want him to get tied into a subscription or bombarded with junk mail as he has some learning disabilities and is a sucker for such things.

Any ideas?

I know you said you don't want subscriptions but not on the high street do some for like 3/6/12 month. So he wouldn't be tied in or able to keep it going longer if you buy as a gift.
I don't know if that would work for him?

Thank you. Those look lovely, but I was hoping to find something that had all the ingredients so he didn’t need to buy the meat etc.

However that is a great gift for another friend!

We got hellofresh for my MIL- set up to my email address and payment card with the delivery to her address. We made her a 'gift voucher' for a delivery every 2 weeks for 3 months and then I got the app, chose the meals she would like and skipped every other week and cancelled at the end of 3 months. She is also a sucker for advertising and would probably end up buying 6 meals for 6 every week plus extras even though she lives alone!

Thank you!

Now I just need to find a tasteful Hong Kong Phooey T-shirt and that is brother sorted!

Simply cook isn’t bad - you can order one off boxes.
