Older kids - when do you ask for their "list"

Usually I ask for the list in mid october, november time.

But I need to spread the cost this year.

When do you ask for the "list"?

My kids are too old for toys and current "fads" so that isnt an issue.

Just before Black Friday. It usually changes if I ask too much before then.

I've got two so far - four to go. All adults though and they all get stockings as well as presents under the tree so it's a really big operation here. They know I start in August so the lists drop in from there onwards but there are two of the little darlings whom I'll probably still be nagging in December.
