Main gift for 4 year old boy

So DD wants a switch for Christmas. Which we might just about be able to stretch to, with very limited other gifts from us.
DS doesn’t want anything apart from a new builders hat. He is 4 and into building, cars and dinosaurs. Prefer not to get anything physically big as his main present as we just don’t have the space.
any suggestions? What are you getting your 4 year old?

dc4 will be nearly 4 and getting the Playmobil take along fire station & fire truck, & a box of hot wheels cars as main presents. Will get a few other bits and small stocking.

playmobil vehicle or construction bits?
small car track, my DC’s love the hot wheels track small stunt bits but the massive sets. Hot wheels track builder box?
Starter Lego set?

Does he need a main present? DTwins will be 3, and whilst getting them a big main present wouldn't be a problem, boy twin just loves walking around with fist fulls of cars, so he's getting a pack of toy cars, and anything else he would open, then return to his cars... So unless he becomes really interested in something else, he'll only get his stocking with little bits in and the cars. He has no idea he hasn't got a main present, he's just got exactly what he wants.

Girl twin is interested in nothing but jumping and climbing, so actually no idea what she would even like. She loves sweets, and I already know her favourite thing is going to be the sachet of popping candy in her stocking.

Make the most of it while they aren't interested in how big something is, or asking for expensive things.

Elder DS will be getting a better phone and other gadgets which will be completely disproportionate to what we'll spend on DTwins. Their time will come!

Agree with @TwinsAndTiramisu DSs time for main gifts will be here before you know it.

Id probably look at builders belt & tools to go with the hat.

If your looking at quantity and want him to open more gifts then get practical things, new lunch box, bath toys, clothes. Wipe clean phonics and maths books are great at this age. Charity shops are also great at this age. I like second hand shopping as I’m happy to quickly moved them on or regift when I’ve only spent a couple of £s on them.

Super awesome cool lego set? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I assume he already has a scooter/bicycle

We got the smyths version of glowtrax for the Christmas DS was 4. It's still played with now 3 years later. I like it because you can roll the track back up easily into the box it came in with the cars so it doesn't take up loads of room. The little cars eat batteries though!

Definitely Lego!

Sunshineday2 · 04/09/2022 18:22

I am thinking of going for Playmobil for this year's present. I think it is timeless and can easily be added to, and there are some great sets if he likes construction, diggers etc.

Mine is getting hot wheels city tracks (obsessed with hot wheels) he also loves the movie Cars so will get him more of those cars. His toy cars are the only think he really plays with. His 4th bday is Dec so will get him toy story figures for Birthday

If you want a big gift, how about a good set of blocks? I'd recommend either the Grimms stepped pyramid or the Grimms 1001 nights. Both get played with nearly every day by my 4 and 7 year olds. They are fairly big but tidy away neatly into their trays and can be slid under a table or sofa.

Magnatiles. DS was nearly 4 last Christmas and we got a dupe set from Amazon. Still played with everyday. Going to get to another set this year so he can do bigger creations.

Finchgold · 04/09/2022 21:43

I bet he’d love something like the Hape Wooden Crane.

Sweetener12 · 05/09/2022 11:15

Lego set is the answer, I think!
If he's crafty then could be something like a coloring calendar with dinosaurs or a DIY car kit.

NameChange30 · 05/09/2022 11:22

Lego
Yoto mini
Does he have a bike?

AliasGraceful · 07/09/2022 02:16

I'd go with a tool belt, maybe some of those big foam bricks for role play and a trip to somewhere like DiggerLand.

My almost four year old is getting a trampoline. Going to buy it now in the post-summer sales and stash it in the garage
