DD 3rd birthday falls right near Christmas so I need ideas for both! She's quite a girly girl and likes animals, flowers, anything sparkly. Really into learning numbers/letters etc.

I remember loving Sylvanian families when I was little so planning to get her one of those sets but is there anything else that your 3 year old girls loved?

At that age I would make the most of whatever is in the charity shops, they pretty much play (and forget about quickly) any toys, save your money while you can (wait until they are teenagers)

I've got 2 dc with Christmas ish birthdays. We tended to go for stuff others could add to, with us usually lego but sylvanians def works for that. This avoids a house full of crap as it ties in together. We also consider the whole year as no presents for the rest of the year. A huge box of craft stuff, paper, pens, glue and glitter, colouring books etc works well and outdoor stuff too. As there are so many presents between Christmas and birthday mine never seemed to care that some things were not suitable to pay with until summer. So we still did sand pit, scooter etc and just put them away for a bit.

They are teens now and experts in convincing relatives to combine budgets so they get more expensive stuff.

At 3 it’s easy you don’t have to spend a fortune at this age, a mistake I made with my first.

My youngests 3rd Xmas, 2nd hand peppa bike, girly lunch box’s for nursery and bath toys from the lidl and Aldi sales baskets, baby dolls from Asda, colouring and learning books and a cuddly toy.

She got a new pram for her birthday that year, I traded her sisters in so she had something new, she loved putting her new babies in it.
the Melissa and Doug house with keys is fantastic for hand eye coordination, my DD 5 still plays with hers and puts her little dolls in it. Even my older ones play enjoy playing with it. They also do a latches tray which is good.

Sylvanian families were never popular with my older DDs so we never got any, it was more LOL, Barbie, kindi kids, princesses, paw patrol, peppa pig, Minnie Mouse, basically any crappy toy that had one of these stickers on was a hit.

Tenderleaf Toys Rosewood Cottage
Janod fairy and waterlilies puzzle
Tenderleaf Toys Blossom flowerpot set

I’m getting 2 1/2 year old the schleich tree house I think. He already had a collection of the animals.

debating a Tonie music box - thinking each music character is then a good option for family who ask what to get the next few years.

He already had the Melissa and Doug ice cream parlour for Xmas last year at 18 months and has played a lot with it

LaPufalina · 07/09/2022 06:31

Mine got the leapfrog ice cream trolley for her 3rd birthday and it's been played with regularly for a year LeapFrog 600703 Scoop & Learn Pretend Toddler Toy for Role Play Food and Magic Ice Cream Scooper Scoop/Learn Cart Set, Various amzn.eu/d/dNSQbRU

She loves a unicorn headband, bath bombs, and the paw patrol tower (bought for her sister)
