Best recipe for Yule log?

I’m not bothering with making a Christmas cake this year or having Christmas pudding as no one in the family really likes it and we only have them for tradition.

Wanted to try making a Yule log instead. The Mary Berry recipe looks good. Anyone got a tried and tested one they would recommend? Thank you!

I don’t know if this is the same as Mary Berry , however Nigellas version is the one I’ve been making for years and is perfect

Following!

I think I’ll have to try both of them in advance! By the look of it Mary uses a ganache to decorate whereas Nigella’s is more of a buttercream icing.

I use Mary Berry's cake recipe and buttercream from The Hummingbird Bakery book.
