Hi everyone , I’m looking at buying the hotel chocolate velvetiser for cosy autumn nights but is there any way to get it a little cheaper or find some discount codes ? I’ve had a look but I’m not very good at finding deals so I was hoping one of you guys might have some ideas , thank you in advance x

If you aren't already sign up to the hotel chocolat VIP club (it's free) you get 15% off your first order.

They quite often about autumn do a £25 discount that's how I got mine last year

SoupDragon · 17/08/2022 17:55

Honestly, I'd buy one of the others as I think the HC one is over priced.

i tested one for MN last year and yes, it looks good and makes great hot chocolate but I think there are others that do the same - the Dualit one for example (who actually make the HC one I think)

Thanks everyone ! Good idea to check out other types as i don’t want to be fooled by the shiny fancyness and pay extra just cause it looks and sounds the business !

I was looking last year but I knew in my heart of hearts it would annoy me because it doesn't gp in the DW .
I bought a milk frother that has a DW removable jug and whisk . There's a Hot Chocolate setting , very nice it is too

I use Knoops or Hotel Chocolat with soya milk ....and of course I had to buy some poncey glass mugs -heat proof and not too large

If you really want the HC one look on QVC , they often have offers and include tins of the powder and 2 cups

Roselilly36 · 17/08/2022 18:24

I looked at one of these, last Christmas, I honestly couldn’t justify the cost, just for hot choc.

I have bought gadgets like this in the past that become redundant, take up room in the kitchen cupboard, never to see the light of day, until we move, and then I give them away 😂

VivaJen · 17/08/2022 19:12

Thanks for the QVC tip @70isaLimitNotaTarget I love my veletiser but HC chocolate is expensive

seven201 · 17/08/2022 19:55

For what it's worth, I don't like my velvetiser very much. Does seem to do much to the milk. When it breaks I'm going to buy a standard frother.

DinosaursEatMan · 17/08/2022 20:17

A friend bought a Velvetiser and I was excited to try it but was unimpressed. I make better hot chocolate with a saucepan of hot milk and a whisk.

Flackattack · 17/08/2022 20:21

i have the Aldi version - it’s great but my friend has the hotel chocolate one and I do think it’s better. Our burns in the bottom. Lovely though!

Doubleraspberry · 17/08/2022 20:25

We’ve got the Dualit one. Far cheaper and does the same thing.

PeskyYeti · 17/08/2022 20:29

I don't drink tea / coffee or instant hot chocolate.
Mine was a birthday present a couple of years ago when new to the market

I love it!

I grate bars of chocolate to go it for different flavours but the HC bags are amazing too. I love the seasonal options.

I wish it was DW safe, but I put it on again after use with water and a drop of washing up liquid and it does 98% of the cleaning then.

spagbog5 · 18/08/2022 10:50

Dd 3 got one for Christmas last year .
We love it and I adore a Baileys hot chocolate on a cold evening!

lapasion · 18/08/2022 11:09

I got one for Xmas a few years ago. It does look pretty and the hot chocolate is nice, but not out of this world or anything. Also you can only make one mug at a time which is annoying, as I guarantee the kids will want one too when I make one! To be honest, a pan, whisk and bar of nice chocolate is the best way to go.

Christmasiscominghohoho · 18/08/2022 15:06

We bought one a couple of years ago and it gets used all the time in the winter.

It’s so easy, my daughter makes her own.

We love the salted caramel hot chocolate that HC do.

If it broke we would 100% but another one.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/08/2022 16:15

What made me decide not to was , if I go into Costa/Starbucks /M&S , I am more likely to have a soya latte than a hot chocolate . So I'm not desperate to recreate the experience at home

My frother is by miroco (Amazon )

fufflecake · 18/08/2022 16:20

Ebay?

Goldenphoenix · 18/08/2022 19:09

I bought DH the Lavazza version last year, bought a reconditioned version from Lakelands eBay shop, was only about £30 and does the same job as the Velvetiser (I have one at work to compare to). I will say though that the copper Velvetiser is a thing of beauty so perhaps worth the money as a piece of art

TeenDivided · 18/08/2022 19:14

Got mine for Christmas 2020.
It has been used more or less every day since.
Love it.
The weight / balance when it pours is superb.

Rainbowshit · 18/08/2022 19:18

We love ours it gets used all the time.

Have to say I don't understand the comment about it not going in the dishwasher being an issue, as it actually cleans itself. You just put in water and a wee bit of dish soap and set it running. So easy.

maeveiscurious · 18/08/2022 19:19

I love ours

We do the same a tiny amount of washing up liquid in warm water cleans it

Badger1970 · 18/08/2022 19:21

They run sales regularly, I think I got ours for £75 in the sale. You can also use blue light codes if you've got anyone with one. Thankfully DD works in adult social care and has one.

I make my own blend using grated Green and Black dark chocolate and oat milk. The latte mixes are nice too, if a little high on the sugar side. DH uses it most and makes HC at night.

greywinds · 18/08/2022 19:22

Wait for Black Friday and sign up - we got one at Christmas and I'd go for something cheaper as it's nice big it's overpriced and then you feel locked into all the velvetiser stuff which is £13 a box.
