Scents that say 'Christmas'

What smells say Christmas to you and would you not mind your home smelling of? Pine, cinnamon, that sort of thing. And any creative ways of incorporating them into your home beyond lots of candles?

Cinnamon and ginger definitely

hattie43 · 31/07/2022 13:27

For me , pine needles , white birch , peppermint anything that evokes cold crisp mornings

I love the smell of oranges and cinnamon. I buy those little scented sticks to hang in my tree and use a selection of different scents every year. I add one or two to pot pourri to refresh the scent as well. I do buy candles - Shearer do the most amazing orang pomander scent and a gorgeous cinnamon scent, again I light one of each and they really bring a seasonal warmth to my home. I do not like pine at all - too much like disinfectant for me, but cinnamon and orange bring a cosy warmth.

CakeCrumbs44 · 31/07/2022 14:09

You can make those oranges studded with clog s and a cinnamon stick tied to the top, or dry orange slices slowly in the oven and hang them up to have the smell without candles.

Pine is another christmassy scent, the obvious way to get that is buying a real Christmas tree! Or if you don't want a whole tree, a few branches could be made into a wreath.

Cloves not clogs! Clogs aren't that festive...

MrsMontyD · 31/07/2022 14:36

Gingerbread, I buy a Spiced Gingerbread Candle every year.

GoT1904 · 31/07/2022 14:41

Mulled wine 😋 and cinnamon

Laura Ashley do gorgeous Christmas candles and diffusers and now the shops have gone it's available on the next website - their festive range is amazing

AllAboutMargot · 31/07/2022 19:00

Brussels sprouts?

Dogsaresomucheasier · 01/08/2022 18:40

Spices and oranges are my favourite Christmas scents.

I love the White Company's fir tree candles and oils...love anything pine-y and resiny

laura1711 · 02/08/2022 08:48

The White Company have a scent called Winter which smells just like Christmas, we had the diffuser last year which was lovely and lasted well

We use Neales Yard Oils in a burner ( electric one , no candles because our cats have form for 'throwing things off tables' ) Don't let it burn dry or the smell chokes me . Cinnamon mixed with Mandarin

The Christmas ake coming out of the oven and cooling on the wire rack . The promise that comes from the sugary , fruity Amarretto warmth ( I don't use spice in my cake )

Chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven ( I use the Martha Stewart Chewy'n'Crispy but much less salt , so much nicer than Millies Cookies )

I don't like Pine
Not keen on peppermint (except After Eights )

I used to buy Yankee Candles but the Cats have put a stop to them Xmas Grin

xogossipgirlxo · 02/08/2022 10:23

Pine, cinnamon and oranges with cloves :D I actually need to find some nice soy candle that smells like pine.

Orange, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, real pine trees (but not artificial pine which smells like lavatory cleaner).

I agree-I got some mistletoe and eucalyptus Airwick refills last year, they smell lovely. I can't bear spiced apple/mulled wine type fragrances.

APurpleSquirrel · 02/08/2022 19:18

Orange & Cinnamon
Peppermint
Pine
Mince pies

You could get festive scented soap? I've also seen limited edition festive washing up liquid.
Candles, diffusers, oil burners, pot pouri.

CinnamonOrangeCremeBrulee · 10/08/2022 07:55

Im a big fan of soy wax melts here, you can get most scents. I like them all really. Yankee do some if you like their candle scents but the nicest ones are made independentcompanies from essential oils etc.

I'm not averse to some of the Zoflora winter scents but only a capful in a sink not whole bottles chucked on lightbulbs or some dangerous method ala Mrs Hinch.

DreamloverTealover · 10/08/2022 20:26

I tried the cloves in oranges one year and also did the roasting orange slides and didn't seem to get a strong smell 🤔 any tips?

I love smelling a real Christmas tree 😂 still trying to convince DH it's a good idea.

You can vacuum up cinnamon and it’ll make your house smell like it whenever you vacuum.

polka6 · 10/08/2022 20:29

My top tip for you is to slowly simmer all day, in red wine and orange juice🍷 then drink it, your house will smell amazing and you will feel very merry indeed !
