Oooh we did this last year middle weekend of December.
Westonbirt an absolute must OP.
We preceded our Saturday early evening visit with Christmas dinner.
After breakfast on Sunday we made our way to Blenheim Palace/Christmas market which was loosly on our route home.
Great weekend for 10 of us.
Planning on doing York this year - suggestions welcome for activities there 9 adults and a 5 year old.

Burton on the water is gorgeous at Christmas and worth spending a afternoon wandering around the lovely little independent shops and then have a afternoon tea/pub lunch.
Cirencester is also close by and is a much busier town. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops and a brilliant little Roman museum that my kids enjoyed much more than I thought they would.
The barn theatre in Cirencester put on a brilliant family production ever year over Christmas and it's very reasonably priced. This year in Robin Hood.

Westonbirt Enchanted Christmas is £60 for two adults and two children - would you say it is worth it?

We did it just before covid hit and I really wasn't impressed! Longleat on the other hand is Incredible during the festival of light. It's not actually too much further.

You must go to Stroud, even just for a drive/walk. It's lovely in winter. Museum in The Park (Stratford Park) is great. Jolly Nice for lunch

circleofdoom · 22/07/2022 17:15

Stroud
Longleat
Bourton

Good to do list ✅

Maybe check the English heritage website to see if they have anything of interest in the area.
I'm thinking of getting a year pass with Tesco vouchers - it's only £22 each adult that way and kids go free.

Sudeley Castle in Winchcombe is beautiful for the light trail. They do great food too. I seem to remember nice things at the American museum near Bath too. Bath is obviously lovely at Christmas 😍

MissyB1 · 23/07/2022 20:14

Westonbirt will obviously be on your doorstep so you might as well do it. Bath won’t be far away so you should go there, Sudley Castle at Winchcombe, and go into Winches itself.

There is not many English Heritage properties around the area National Trust has more.

Would Blenheim palace fit within this area?
