Shall I start........

Dec 16th DS1 is sick, has to miss the last 2 days of school.

Dec 21st DS2 has a toothache, Dentist closed, find emergency dentist to see him on the 23rd, 15 mile drive in fog. They were lovely, he had an abscess.

Dec 22nd DS2 is up all night sick.

Dec 25th DS1 spends all night being sick (over my lovely new slippers)

Dec 26th DS1 sleeps all day.

Today DH1 comes to look after boys while DP and I go out for lunch, Is sick and is now asleep on the futon

Go for lunch and in the middle of it DP is taken ill and is now on the sofa.

To add to this my sister spent Christmas with us and was full of flu.

This will be remembered as the Christmas we were all ill
We did manage a lovely Christmas day though.

Dh went down with man flu the week before Christmas and is still not feeling well.

Dd threw up on her bed, floor, down the stairs (her and ds are on a floor above us), over my bedroom door, floor and ensuite door & floor on Christmas Eve and felt rotten on Christmas Day.

You win!

Fimbo · 28/12/2007 16:40

Oh and I had my parents for 2 weeks leading up to Christmas Day (they went home yesterday) and managed to fall out with them and my pil arrive today!

KIMIfullofhopefor2008 · 28/12/2007 16:42

Oooowwwwwww fimbo, your poor little dd, at least DS1 only got my slippers, the bedroom floor and splashes on the walls bed and wardrobe, I am going to have to go get more dettol at this rate though.

KIMIfullofhopefor2008 · 28/12/2007 16:53

Flash with bleach, please tell me not on carpet!

We have all had viral flu, started the day before Christmas. High fevers, coughing, headaches, diarrhea, and so on. But no vomiting - so you win! God, I hate cleaning up vomit!! I can deal with almost anything but that!

KIMIfullofhopefor2008 · 28/12/2007 19:11

Well DH1 from the futon has ask for ice cream, none that I had in the freezer but raspberry ripple, so off to tesco I go, Also had to get him some pajamas as he is going to have to stay till he is better as I don't think it is safe for him to drive and I don't want him to be sick alone.
DP from the bedroom would like a lemsip, and oh joy of joys I just threw up.

Do you think I am being unreasonable in wanting to sob on the bathroom floor then go to bed.

.my smugness has gone!dh fitted new kitchen cupboard today, just finished putting cups, bowls etc back in when ds opened door for peek and did cottage cheese sick over everything!i wont even go into just how foul it was-lets just say it made me grab for the bucket too!maybe i shouldnt have commented on how well we'd all been!

pipsqueak · 29/12/2007 22:25

not sick but fell off ladder ripped my leg open on a nail on the way down and ended up with 35 stitiches in my leg ! huge whole which will leave a huge scar the length of my calf ... good job my modelling days are overe!

NotquiteChristmasyet · 29/12/2007 22:31

OK Kim I can almost match you. DS1 started on 16th too, then ds2 on 18th, and then me on 19th. However, I am still ill - after sickness, high temperatures, headaches, feeling generally ghastly for 9 days - yuck, yuck, yuck - and dh has started today too. But I really can't beat an ill dh in one room and a dp in another! I think that just about tops it!

Sorry Moljam, but pmsl at dss timing! Hope he feels better soon.

Kbear · 29/12/2007 22:35

DD ill since last Friday with headache and temp virus thing then horrendous cough, DH ill from Saturday, he spent most of Christmas Day in bed, taken all week to recover. He passed out in the hall this morning (attention seeker, just didn't want to make kids toast!) but frighten the life out of me and I had to leap out of bed and adminster pillow to his face first aid!

BrieVinDeAlkaSeltzer · 29/12/2007 22:46

I am too ill too type..........................I win.

I had to have a bath in the middle of the night to clear the tightness in my chest. I started coughing and I was sick before I could get out of the bath.

Two hours later on the toilet with exploding bum, and I was being sick into the jug we use to wash DS's hair.

DS has been sick since the 18th and has only just turned a corner.

And as for DH, he was really poorly but he also embraced man flu.

We cooked Christmas dinner and then didn't have it as DH was cooking and he didn't have the energy to finish it off and neither did I having done everything for the previous three days.

A Christmas to forget.

KIMIfullofhopefor2008 · 29/12/2007 22:53

Can I say re exploding bum comment both DH1 and DP have had need to set the washing machine going

pipsqueak · 29/12/2007 22:57

but what about my leg ? proper stitches from a plastic surgeon person -surely i win!

Scramble · 29/12/2007 23:02

Thankfully this year we had a healthy Christmas but have had a few scary ones.

DS first Christmas, blood in nappy.

DD age 3 yrs, fell down stairs suspected broken ribs.

DS 4 yrs, suspected meningitis.

One year everyone vomiting and scooty bum, (apart from me but mums not allowed), DS openned presents inbetween vomiting in bucket, christmas dinner eaten in turns when ever you weren't clearing up vomit, had to find emergency chemist (thankfully big boots) and buy pull ups for 7yr old DS as it was so bad, wipes , anti bac spray, baby wipe, pampers mats to cover sofa which was already stripped of stinky covers. Broke my heart that year.

Few other scary horrible ones but I have d scrubbed them from my memory.

bigwombat · 29/12/2007 23:15

Yikes to all of you!! (pipsqueak - your leg sounds very painful...)

I had the gastric fluey thing about 10 days before Christmas and dd1 had it on 22/23rd, but rest of family avoided it - God knows how...

DaphneHarvey · 29/12/2007 23:16

Blimey was feeling sorry for myself but then read this thread.

My Christmas of sickness appears to be very mild by comparison, but going to post anyway, just cos feeling sorry for self.

My Dh got man-flu about a week before Christmas, so had to look after him. Then a day or so later, I got same "flu", but to me was just heavy cold. Could have managed that fine except for having to do much Christmas shopping and going to school nativity plays etc, feeling like a loon.

On 20th December close relative died.

On that day DS (age 4) came down with v high temp and cough and cold.

He has (bless his little heart) coughed non-stop, to the point of retching, since then. I mean every minute of every day for 9 days.

Dh and I have been in the house with him and DD pretty much full-time since 20th December.

We are just about ready to lie down on the fast lane of the A3 and have merciful relief.

Am glad no-one here has had the d&v bug, but at least that seems to clear up sooner than the hideous dry coughing up all hours of the night bug?

I know we don't win, but we are high up there on the illness-ridden Christmas list, aren't we?

expatinscotland · 29/12/2007 23:17

DD1 and I both fell ill on Xmas Eve.

We have an ear and sinus infection respectively.

DD1 is still so weak and recovering that she's been unable to enjoy any of her toys or the Christmas she was so looking forward to .

But my aunt spent Xmas in A&E with her husband, who has pneumonia from flu and is still in hospital. Luckily, she had a flu jab, because she has hep C.

expatinscotland · 29/12/2007 23:19

I also spent a Christmas in hospital with pneumonia from flu when I was 25 and it so sucked!

pipsqueak · 29/12/2007 23:37

big wombat - it was odd - no pain when i did it but gradually over a couple of days i seized up and whole leg hurt . now its just a dull ache but my ankles swell by hte end of the day. stitches out on 31/12/ . new carpet required in dd2s room . it looks like an abbatoir and no one has been in there since! hope all the rest of you poorly posters are on the mend now. its a real bummer at xmas to be off colour and somehow not fair after all hte preparation and the excitement in hte build up

lapiNewYear · 29/12/2007 23:47

We have had flu, but our neighbours have had gastroenteritis (including the baby!)

QueenBhannae · 30/12/2007 01:56

17th- at Drs with ds who has whezing and awful cough, sent home(virus )

18th(part 1)- back at Drs as ds wheezing badly and lethargic, given antibiotics and sent home
(part 2)called emergency docs and put him on the phone to listen- ds rushed to hospital, temp of 40.1airways closed with severe croup, had steroids and kept in-very scary.About an hour away from needing full intubation.

19th- Still in hospital

20th- d&v all round

21st- d&v still

22nd- d&v still

23rd- dd dehydrated,trip to Drs

24th- dd2 (4mths) upper respitory tract infection-antibiotics

27th- ds wheezing again with croup

28th- dh high temp, serious sickness and flu-carries on regrdless but is quite ill, bless him.

There are so many antibiotics and creams floating around here I have had to allocate special areas for each persons collection!

I hope you all have an uneventful(illness wise) New Year!!
