Top Gear v popular with this age group - there are lots of books & DVDs about the prog and/or by Clarkson/Hammond/May.

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2007 23:10

Top Gear do Top Trumps! (bought a set for my DH

What about a small bottle of aftershave/body spray (boots had some half price before Christmas)

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2007 23:12

yes I was thinking about Top Trumps and then thought it is ok to buy them for an adult (dp got me some ) but possibly not for a 16 y o IFKWIM

what brands of aftershavey thing are cool then?

Hmm - not generally the ones you can get for a fiver! Although you can get varieties of Calvin Klein for about a tenner.

Is there a Body Care shop where you are? They're usually pretty good for cheapish designer smells.

Or TK Maxx?

pinkbubble · 26/12/2007 23:17

Body sprays are often cheaper than after shave, I would go and have a look in boots.

colditz · 26/12/2007 23:18

One of those executive pin toy things.

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2007 23:18

I get the fear about TK Maxx

LOL at cool aftershave not costing a fiver. I should have really been able to work that one out for myself

what is that colditz?

M and S do fun toys for fiver ie Mechano (sp) helicopter or sports car!

My DS is 14 and as I have posted on other threads about difficulty in finding good stocking fillers for older boys. Went for quality rather than quantity this year and had some real hits: from Hawkins Mirascope - this is fab and all our adult guests have been amazed too. Also Visual Illusions. Desktop rugby from Tesco (basically a mini goal post and rugby ball on a mini kicking base and you try to flick the ball over the post with your finger. Sounds naff but hours of fun for DS and DH). Added to that the usual pens, smellies, chocolate reindeer droppings and he was as happy a teenager as you've ever seen. (Apart from when he opened a poster, excited til he saw it had the periodic table on it!! )

colditz · 26/12/2007 23:21

hang on I'll find a pic.

colditz · 26/12/2007 23:22

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2007 23:25

Hawkins are great and they have loads of shops now, not just mail order - find one here

Any other ideas while it's fresh in everyone's mind (not that I'm doing my 2008 Christmas list yet or anything....)
