We got a photographer to take a pic of ds & dd for us & they framed it & mounted it, was lovely Cost us £60 so that is all we bought them!!!

Posey · 26/12/2007 18:21

We bought her a pair of shoes (well she bought them and we paid! as she wanted them before they went away). Also a book, and a do-it-yourself calendar from the dc (which they have already done themselves)

chocchipchristmascake · 26/12/2007 18:24

Having posted on here about whether to give her anything at all (I am the person who gave her a fifty quid voucher for her birthdayand never heard a word) I bought some Avon from a friend, put it in a recycled basket... and made a donation to a mother and baby hospital in Kenya.

themoon66 · 26/12/2007 18:25

Voucher for local beauty spa place... she can chose what to spend it on... hairdo, nails, massage, whatever.

Not very much!!!

southeastastra · 26/12/2007 19:12

if i gave a voucher for a day out to a spa to mil she would drive out all the residents with her incessant repetitive chatter

DarthVader · 26/12/2007 19:28

Not sure, dp chose her pressie

FranSanDisco · 26/12/2007 19:35

We sent her some cash. She doesn't go anywhere or need anything apparently . She rang to say we shouldn't have sent so much (it wasn't)and that she'll put it towards her fuel bills or something - lovely treat . I wish she'd just go and have a huge blow out treat and stop being so boring.

Pickie · 26/12/2007 19:46

Clinique Elixer gift set, that is what she asked for!

mindalina · 26/12/2007 19:50

Overnight-type bag for holidays - she goes abroad a lot and a bottle of red wine. She was chuffed.

SpookyMadMummy · 26/12/2007 19:51

A framed professional pic of the Dd's plus school calendar with their artwork in and a box of biccies

Elasticwoman · 26/12/2007 19:54

dh chose and bought audiobook of Cranford for his own mother. I wrapped it up.

suedonim · 26/12/2007 19:54

Crabtree & Evelyn goodies and some jewellery made of those crystal/rock healing things as she's into that kind of stuff.

Roobie · 26/12/2007 19:55

An umbrella - she asked for one in a very 'don't spend your hard earned cash on lil ole me' way. So we didn't

YuleLoveHekateAtSolstice · 26/12/2007 19:56

I sent her £50.

Which may sound pants, but she's an old lady in Kenya and £50 is a lot to her, and of more use than lavender talc or something

MulledWino · 26/12/2007 19:57

Nothing. We lost her suddenly, Autumn of 2006. However, apparently she was around! FIL cooked christmas dinner for an assortment of my SILs and BILS.. and was stressing about the quality of the stuffing. Sat down at the table.. and the lightbulb dropped out of the light fixture INTO the bowl of stuffing!!!

Apparently was a real "Toffee Crisp" moment.. , taken to mean that MIL considered the stuffing a poor substitute for hers! (She was a wonderful cook..)

TenLordsaLapin · 26/12/2007 20:04

A three handset digital phone for her and FIL (bit hard of hearing) and a black velvet chinese jacket with gorgeous turquoise silk lining that I bought her in Hong Kong

peachygirl · 26/12/2007 20:14

A subscription to 'Yours' magazine, aimed at older ladies and gentlemen, It contains stories about yester year, fashion, health cooking, craft and gardening tips and interview with celebs like Lulu, Alan Tichmarsh and Clff Richard. Just the thing!
She also got a tea towel with I love grandma under the tree from DD

MuffinMclay · 26/12/2007 20:19

Photo of ds in a nice frame and a book.

Blandmum · 26/12/2007 20:24

MariNativityPlay · 26/12/2007 20:35

A book I knew she'd like, a larky but tasteful tea towel and posh chocolates from the dcs
