DD1, aged 5, has a big book of the human body and loves it, she looks at it all the time and is fascinated.

So, I saw this Human Anatomy colouring book on Amazon for about £3.50 and thought maybe she'd like it. When it arrived it was more like pages from a medical textbook and probably intended to help medical students to remember bits, but thought i'd just stick it in her stocking anyway.

This evening she was happily colouring away, all the drawings are colour and number coded. I was curious when she asked me what a rectum is, as she needed a light orange for it, she'd already used the regular orange on the anus. So looked over her shoulder to find a neatly coloured diagram of the male reproductive system. Number one, seminal vesicle - green, scrotum - yellow, sperm - grey.

Bloody father Christmas, fraek.

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 25/12/2007 21:41

ah well, harpsi will be proud that she'll know all the correct anatomical terms. no twinkles and peepees for baby Boco

merryTissmas · 25/12/2007 21:42

I used to have that! Next year get her the neuroanatomy one....

choosyfloosy · 25/12/2007 21:47

Ooh, I'm using that book for revision this vacation! It's brilliant. Much better than colouring in cr*ppy pictures of Bob the Builder. Susan Greenfield in the making - why not suggest it for school?

Calcifer · 25/12/2007 21:56

I have that book, and the one on the human brain!

V. impressed that a 5 yr old is colouring it in properly! I struggle and I'm meant to know all this stuff!

Bocohohoho · 25/12/2007 21:57

Oh phew, so you don't think i'm too much of a freak, getting my five year old colouring in cross sections of a cock and balls on Christmas day.

That's a relief!

  • and to be honest Calcifer, there is some colouring confusion around the vas deferens and the seminal vesicle.

PMSL! That is brilliant!

Cappuccino · 25/12/2007 22:13

she must be such a good reader

you must be so proud

'rectum' isn't a high frequency word from what I can remember of dd1's reception year

Bocohohoho · 25/12/2007 22:25

Yes, but rectum is very phonetic so not too demanding. She did struggle with pubis bone.

Fubsyinapeartree · 25/12/2007 22:33

DD (6) would probably love that - I know OT students who used it for revision!

Fubsyinapeartree · 25/12/2007 22:35

[frin]?

sparklygothkat · 25/12/2007 22:38
