Im feeling all melancholy and sad

3rdparcelshock · 24/12/2007 20:03

Ive changed my name so I can have a right anon maudlin !!

Ive just finished wrapping both the dd's pressies, dh has taken out his bothersome and having-a-turn again father,(bi polar manic depressive whos cold and nasty man , who cut his ds's out of his life for years and years)for dinner and Im sat all alone. No one coming tomorrow as both my sisters are away and my parents are working late tonight and will be to tired to come over.

The Santa Claus film earlier (which made me cry, Oh my gawdd the shame, Im so wet today )has got dd1 quaking in her boots in her bedroom and wants daddy home now, as she thinks Tim Allen is coming to this house tonight and Ive had to say its make believe to get her to go to bed!!

I feel sad that its just us 4 tomorrow as we had a tradition in the family to all be together at Xmas and now no one is. Each year its dwindled and dwindled. I think its a shame.

The little upside is that we're all going (whos left) into the West End for Boxing day lunch and dh says hes paying for my parents and doing his bit for Xmas spirit this year. Which is a surprise for all of us!!!

Please just join me in my sentimental stupor so I can exorcise it out of my system!!!!!

Think Im on the sauce tonight !!!

I will join you in your melancholiness, but i am very excited for DDs (especially DD3 as she is only 1), and can't really participate wholly in the un-cheerful aspect.

HO HO Meh.

3rdparcelshock · 24/12/2007 20:19

Shall I pass around the baileys.

your right ms bumcheek , my dd2, 16mths , doesn't even know whats going on and is jolly little cheeky thing that she is.

dd1 however despite her freak about Mr Claus , is extremely excited about her pressies !!!

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 24/12/2007 20:25

Baileys is for the wimpish imo. Open the brandy darling and I'll save the calories. For more brandy.

SantasUnderGodzillasBumcheek · 24/12/2007 20:31

This'll make you laugh. Possibly. I had a little drink when BIL came round a few nights ago...TWO bottles of Becks beer. Fairly small bottles they were.

Not only was i slightly tipsy and became incredibly chatty (not in a lewd way though, thank goodness ), but i also had an ALL DAY hangover the next day, complete with nausea and intolerance of noise/bright lights! OMG - Two beers! How embarrassing.

SantasUnderGodzillasBumcheek · 24/12/2007 20:32

So i'll pass on the Brandy, thanks.
And the Bailey's

MrsWeasleysmagicmincepies · 24/12/2007 20:35

I'm trying to persuade my DC's to go to bed so I can start wrapping their pressies

3rdparcelshock · 24/12/2007 20:35

Im the same now too msbumcheeks, totally totalled after one drink. I used to go drinking after work and down cocktails and shots like they were out of fashion 7-8 yrs ago and then start work at 8:30 the net morn no problem!!!!!

Your right though one bat, brandy is divine, but Im on 400mg ibuprofen so not even sure baileys is safe. Im gonna be a slurring loon when dh gets back !!!

OP posts:
3rdparcelshock · 24/12/2007 20:38

net ????? see look Im slurring already!!!

Get to bed now yer hear, childs of Mrs Weasly

now off to fridge to forage for a lazy deli style dinner (& preferably NOT the slimy chilli con carne microwave thing dh got me in guilt lol , errrrrm , when do I eat microwave food pah bluegghh)

Hope you are feeling better, 3rdparcelshock.

Have to go because i have to read 'Twas the night before Christmas' (apparently it's traditional!) and a bedtime story for DD1 and 2, otherwise they will not go to bed! Happy Christmas whatever happens, everyone!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 24/12/2007 20:51

Ok but to look at it in a positive light, you have you own little family all together, your rules, your own choice of food and activities, and you won't have your fil round being a turd to everyone as your dh has taken care of him today. That has to be a good thing, right?

Yesterday I would have shared your melancholy. Tonight I'm feeling more cheerful, (aided by a belly full of quality street and bacardi breezers) but I was desperatly sad last night after my dad got drunk and really depressed me on the phone. Plus dp and I had a row over getting a christmas tree so we didn't get one, and we haven't decorated the house (haven't even tidied, can't get motivated as it doesn't feel like christmas)

I have said depressing dad and my almost as depressing bachelor brother coming for dinner tomorrow. Last year they came and sat in the kitchen telling me how I was cooking everything wrongly until I screamed at them (I was pregnant and very hormonal) then sat about telling me how I need to chill out and the meal wasn't that important.

Plus they never get any of us presents although I aways get them stuff because they live alone and they wouldn't get anything at all if I didn't bother. Last year my dad gave me money in an envelope then implied throughout dinner that he couldn't afford to spare the money. Aaargh!

So this year our meal is courtesy of aunt bessie, they are banished to the livingroom to entertain the baby, and I've bought myself some lovely gifts I know I'll really appreciate: some vodka and a vibrator! lol

Hope you manage to cheer up, your lo's will be so excited in the morning, and it'll be all your doing!

3rdparcelshock · 24/12/2007 20:53

Thank you msbumcheek , much better to have shared my maudlin now with others lol!!!

Happy Christmas to you too Ms Bumcheek

I'll join you in that Baileys. Feeling very lonely and sorry for myself tonight. I split from DH a couple of months ago (my decision) and am feeling incredibly meloncholy. Every christmas song I hear is making me howl at the moment

3rdparcelshock · 24/12/2007 20:58

aww jamesbanana , that was a sad xmas. Dh's dad is the same, never any pressies for anything ; chanukkah , xmas , birthdays , birth, NADA niente zilch , silly sod!!! Doesnt matter , dont need things really from him. Shame for him to be such a cold heart of a man really.

Glad your feeling better today though , what a wonder chocs and drink can do !!!! Im going to have some more to tonight also.

3rdparcelshock · 24/12/2007 20:59

awww bandgeek , sounds like you need a cheesy but ever so loving and afectionate MN hug (((((((((((((((((bandgeek)))))))))))))).

Welcome to the Xmas maudlin gang.

OP posts:
bandgeek · 24/12/2007 21:09

Aww, thanks

I'm just wishing I could go into hibernation for a couple of weeks so Christmas and New Year are over. Still, am hoping for a better year next year.

Think I'll have one more glass of Baileys before attempting to build up dc's kitchen. Any loud noises heard over the next couple of hours will be my screams of frustration

3rdparcelshock · 24/12/2007 21:21

Your a brave women mixing baileys and kitchen building !!! Mind you , best way to do it lol.

Think I have to retire to front room for a short while. My laptop is stationed in the back room were the tvs on the blink & fancying a flick at the tv. Am feeling rather nauseous now after a strange concoction from the frdige, but hoping another drinky will wash that away pmsl!!!!

be back shortly for a nosey at MN , as have to always scratch that tickle eh!

bandgeek · 24/12/2007 21:27

I've got Gordon Ramsey on at the moment. Telly is dire tonight!

I fear I may need therapy to overcome my MN addiction

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 24/12/2007 21:39

I'm watching gordon ramsay too. Load of big aggressive blokes roaring at each other. Excess of testosterone or what? why don't they just flop their whatsits out, get their rulers out and get it over with.

Telly's crap tonight. Thank god I'm getting drunk!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 24/12/2007 21:41

haha, that big fella just called the other one "a f*cking blowjob" wtf kind of insult is that?? lol

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 24/12/2007 21:43

i'm feeling like this too. ds hasn't a clue about christmas (only 18 months) and i'm failing to get excited about it all.

finished work a couple of hours ago to be informed by my friend that my ex was in there which really through a spanner in the works. i had been feeling remotely happy until then. was meant to be going for a drink with some friends but even they've let me down

3rdparcelshock · 24/12/2007 22:44

Off to bed soon , watchig an old chicago hope and knocking back grand marnier now lol.

sorry you had a bad end to the day addicted. Hopefully tommorow will be better.

I know ill watch the end and then come back on here again, so wont say bye just yet lol.
