For the older ones who still believe.
Put your alarm in their room and tell them if they go downstairs before the alarm goes off without santa will make the presents disappear. (have told dd1 who is 8 this so she doesnt wake us all at 5am! Sounds harsh but so is being woken at 5am and being expected to stay awake all day!)

So what do the children do to keep me in bed past 5am - its me that lies there in bed thinking " I want to get up and open my presents" ever year I am up before my children (who are now 15 and 9)????

AchristmasRGPARGYcarol · 24/12/2007 18:23

i wonder if this will work on my almost-3-week-old???

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 24/12/2007 18:38

We told dd last year not to come in before 7am. Fair enough, I think for an 11 year old. She came in on the dot of 7 with a cuppa for us! (Ahh, my job here is done!)

Happy Christmas all!

PirateInaPeartree · 24/12/2007 18:40

can't wait til dd can make me a cuppa, what's the official age on this one.

she is 5 atm

YuleLoveHekateAtSolstice · 24/12/2007 18:40

Me too, Ivy - I wake up every hour and check if I can reasonably go and 'see if the kids are awake yet' (go into their room and cough and move things and uncover their feet and stuff. )

brusselbeansprouts · 24/12/2007 18:46

Alternatively, have a child who wakes you between 5 and 6am on every other day of the year, so you don't feel too fed up when it happens on Christmas Day.

or do as i do and put mil in the living room (sleeping overnight). her snores would put them off until at least daybreak.

ivykaty44 · 24/12/2007 18:51

OOOh I am getting soo excited, how many hours to go now? Hopefully dd2 will get up early this year

I don't mind falling asleep after dinner - cant wait to get the presents open and all the whopping and merry Christmas

saltirehangingonachristmastree · 24/12/2007 19:09

Well DS1 was up about 4.45 this morning "practising" for tomorrow apparently!
He's 9!

wotz · 24/12/2007 19:13

They both have clocks and are told NOT to get up before 7am incase santa is running late!

ivykaty44 · 24/12/2007 19:15

Oh I don't need to practice - have done 40 real christmas mornings
