rosy

Take turkey's out now and defrost in the fridge - its the safest way to do it.

Prepare all veg tonight - potatoes can be peeled and left in water overnight.

I always par-boil my potatoes and parsnips in the morning a couple of hours before roasting them to take the pressure off later, drain them, then leave them to cool down.
They then go into the hot (almost smoking) tray of goosefat/lard in the same way as usual.

If you have any time-saving (or food-poisoning preventing tips ), post here!

Well they said 'ideally in a fridge' !

Oh I don't know! I'm not defrosting one. How big is it VVV? I guess if you've time then it's fine in the fridge.

Delia told me to take it out the fridge the night before, and the stuffing. And I always have. Nobody been sick yet - though I put it somewhere cool obviously.

ANYWAY.

Let's not get derailed on this subject.

More time-saving tips? I'm impressed by the preparing sprouts and bagging in fridge. I'm going to do that tonight.

we prepare all the veg tonight.

other tips: do all the fiddly stuff today like making sausage rolls or stuff like that.

put a dvd/film on for the kids - will keep them occupied whilst you do other bits

DC are making a Playmobil christmas tableau and taking photos of it. I have yanked the giblets out of the turkey and it's now defrosting in the fridge, which is slightly warmer than the garage,

right my jiont has been out of freezer and in fridge ALL DAY and...is still frozen solid!..helpppppppppp!

AchristmasRGPARGYcarol · 24/12/2007 20:06

Crap! I've only just taken my turkey crown out the freezer and that was because i was rooting around for something for tea and then noticed that turkey was still sitting there, stone-like, in the freezer. [oops]

Still, i reckon it'll be defrosted by tomorrow - it's not that big really.

Run a bath of cold water and give it a swim

(still in its packaging of course)

I'm gonna do all mine tomorrow, its the first time ive done Xmas dinner so am stressed to the max (on the wine already!)

I have a bit of a plan re bird but have no idea how long to cook it for. It has one of those pop-up things on it and says 1 hr 40 minutes but am gonna say 2 hours to be safe plus 30 minutes to rest after coooking

does that sound right??
