Yes, 24 hours in the fridge is usually appropriate.

Mind you, my mum used to take it out the night before and stick it in the bath to defrost (kitchen sink too small).

That was always an alarming sight for us on Christmas morning when going to the loo

RudolphtheredROSEreindeer · 24/12/2007 08:39

LOL..so i CAN let it slowly defrost in fridge then?(totally domesticated me!)

Yes, but it'll need 24 hours at least in the fridge but its the safest way of doing it.

RudolphtheredROSEreindeer · 24/12/2007 08:43

Merry Christmas!

I got mine out this morning, and put it on the side. It'll be fine - that's how I normally defrost it. Just make sure you check it is fully defrosted before you cook it. I'll be cooking mine aroun 6-7pm tonight.

VVVExcitedAboutChristmasQV · 24/12/2007 08:50

tonight?

It's actually a boneless chicken joint. And it's a small one.
Got beef for Xmas day dinner. Assuming overdue baby stays put of course!

RudolphtheredROSEreindeer · 24/12/2007 08:55

oh my god, get them both in now and if push comes to shove(pardon the pun!), you can eat beef sandwhiches in the hosp!
