Sainsburys brndy rich are good, but they're all i've tried this year.

Alambil · 24/12/2007 10:14

I like Sainsbury's own without the brandy (bleugh!)

Would hazard a guess that the taste the difference range are even better...

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 24/12/2007 10:14

Dh swears by Morrison's The Best or Sainsbury's Taste the Different. He scorns other inferior pies

Bouncingturtlewithtinsel · 24/12/2007 10:15

Difference not different.

cornsilk · 24/12/2007 10:15

sainsburys taste the difference - no contest.

WinnieThePooh · 24/12/2007 10:16

We are having home made mince pies. have made aprox 30 so far, but will be making a few more batches before the holidays ae over.

catsmother · 24/12/2007 11:14

Tesco Finest ..... but mainly 'cos they have nuts and cherries in which I like. Haven't tried any others.

dh made some from the recipe on the Jamie Oliver christmas special - the mincemeat was spread onto puff pasrty, rolled up like a swiss roll, sliced and dropped into a muffin tray with a sheet of filo lining it.

they were truly fab.

Iota · 24/12/2007 11:24

recipe here if you're interested

WanderingHolly · 24/12/2007 11:25

M&S are ok.

Waitrose are like lard in the shape of a mince pie, and will coat your teeth in fur.

Wish I'd gone to Sainsbury's.

MerryBiglipsmas · 24/12/2007 15:44

ive bought the Asda "Extra Special" ones

are they ok?

Make them. They take no time, and even if you use ready made pastry and mincemeat they will be loads better. I make the pastry (super-quick in food processor, Nigella's recipe with orange juice isntead of water) but just tart up shop mincemeat by adding extra cherries, almonds, decent candied peel if I've got it left from cake or pudding and booze. Always a winner, people who don't like mince pies love them.

Sorry, sorry Biglips, didn't read OP, was too busy being smug and domesticated.
