What gifts went down well with 12/13 year old girls?

It's DD's birthday this week and we still haven't got her any presents! So difficult immediately after Christmas. I know kids are all into quite different things at this age but would anyone like to share what their DDs (or DSs) received that they really liked this year?

Things that DD received and liked were mainly stationery, small storage (to keep stationery in!), a BSL book and art stuff.

She's not into make up or toiletry type things and doesn't do any sports. She's being assessed for ASD and gets anxious in crowds so things like theatre tickets or experiences probably won't work.

Any ideas!

Learn to draw manga, etc is a good call, think she'd like that. Also new duvet cover is an idea.

Prismacolour pencils or chameleon pens

Fountain pen and pyrography set also great ideas. Thanks so much to you all, this has helped so much, I was totally stumped for ideas before.

Second the bubble tea kit!
Drawing tablet if budget allows.
Purse/ crossbody bag.

Velvian · 08/01/2022 09:16

Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser, or similar? Air drying clay and paints, Lego? There are some pretty botanical lego sets at the moment.

My DD (11 in 2 weeks) loves all the above. PJs, blanket, boot slippers, posh chocolates, series of books, Kindle...

What about any of the baked in cooking boxes? Like mug cakes, cinnamon buns etc.

Bumpsadaisie · 08/01/2022 09:48

Doc Marten boots?

My 12.5 year old is dreaming of finally being able to get some but it is rushing her forever to save up.

KurtWilde · 08/01/2022 09:58

My DD is slightly younger but we got her a pyrography set as a more 'grown up' craft item and she's enjoyed it, but may be a little on the young side for.

I do pyrography and DD11 has started using mine, it really makes a change as a different type of craft for them. Wish I'd had one when I was 11!

Great thread and perfect timing as I was looking for ideas for late Christmas presents for my fab 12 year old niece. She is not into really girly stuff and is quite particular about clothes so didn’t want to get her anything in that area.

She’s into anime stuff so I’ve been down a rabbit hole on Amazon and got her a book on how to draw anime faces, an anime character lamp that changes colour and a mixed box of Japanese sweets.

Really hope she likes them all. She’s so fab and cool but quiet and shy.

EvilPea · 08/01/2022 10:03

@Peridot1 blippo website is really good if you have time for delivery.

Peridot1 · 08/01/2022 11:32

Thanks @EvilPea - I’ll have a look. I’m taking Ireland and leave on Tuesday so might not for this time. But maybe birthday.

Thecatisboss · 08/01/2022 11:35

DD was 12 just before Christmas and she loved her Doc Martin boots with silver stars on them (unfortunately they don't do them in my size) also watercolour brush pens were a big hit as we're an oodie and marvel throw from primark.

ThePlantsitter · 08/01/2022 11:39

Big book of fortune telling very well received, as well as fairy lights, earrings, and cushions.

Lalallama · 08/01/2022 17:40

Only just had a chance to check back on this thread again - thank you so much for all the suggestions, you've all been so helpful.

Waffle maker was a hit for my 11 year old. And an Amazon fit watch which looks a lot more £££ than it was (£25)

Rainbowshit · 09/01/2022 15:46

Throw throw burrito

FiloPasty · 09/01/2022 15:52

Caseify case for her iPhone, I thought they were a total waste of money but now it’s arrived I can see that the quality is brilliant.

Pucarbuile · 09/01/2022 16:03

Dd loves her instax camera and her Bluetooth speaker alarm clock. She was very excited about her soda stream but put it in the utility room and forgot about it Hmm

GnomeyGnome · 09/01/2022 16:41

Wreck it journal was a big hit at Christmas for 12 year old girl.

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 09/01/2022 16:44

DD almost 12.
Mini printer that prints from her phone. String lights with with little pegs for photos.
Decent stylus for her ipad.
Cuddly Death (Halloween squish mallow!)

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 09/01/2022 16:45

Oh and a book about crystals, she was really happy with that. Her and her friends are really in to crystals.

Broadlyskinny · 09/01/2022 16:57

Can people please recommend where to buy the oodie from? Thanks
