Santa does the stocking.
So far they are looking a bit empty.
I ran out of money friday and find i have some in the bank today!
Do i brave town Monday to get them a CD/DVD each for their stockings or forget it?
(I will have to take all 4 of them with me too. But DS1 can be good at distracting the other 3 while i buy!)

No, if money is that tight don't do it.

Staceym11PipersPiping · 22/12/2007 21:34

i would say if you think you can spare it do it, my kids have had my last pennies because they will love their stockings!

glad you found money, let me know how to do that please!

WendyWeber · 22/12/2007 21:37

I'm inclined to agree with CarGirl but if you really can't resist, just make sure first that there isn't a payment due which hadn't gone out when you checked the balance!

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 22/12/2007 21:41

I don't even know what the money is from! I am guessing benifits. But i have £200 in there now!
I do need to get some food because i only had £25 left for it Friday!
If it wasn't for the 4 DC being with me i would probably be very keen to go!

Wendy i don't think there is any money due to come out. Oh except Sky but i think that might of already been done or erm there wasn't enough in there to pay it!
I am so terrible at keeping track of Direct debits!

Hijack sorry!! Tortoise were you the having the party that sounded really good?

Staceym11PipersPiping · 22/12/2007 21:42

tort, that will be mon tues or weds benefits, check you wont need it for next week

ALomonderfulLife · 22/12/2007 21:43

I wouldn't go mad, that will be next weeks money so don't leave yourself short for next week. My Child Tax credit usually gets paid on a Tuesday but came in today. I'm trying not to spend it!

Magrat · 22/12/2007 21:43

No

if money is tight keep it for something useful not a load of tat that the kids don't need or want

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 22/12/2007 21:45

DS2 had a circus skills party back in October if thats the one you mean?
It was great!

I only get £59 something IS on a Tuesday. Would tax credits(due Thursdays)been paid early too?

bookofchristmascarolsmum · 22/12/2007 21:45

Keep hold of it. I'm sure that they won't miss out.

WingsofanAngel · 22/12/2007 21:46

If your child benefit was due on Monday then mine has gone in. Tax credits is normally paid on a Wednesday is going in on Monday.
Make sure you have enough to pay bills that are due and if you have some over buy them a little extra.
Do you do on line banking ideal to keep a close eye on things.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 22/12/2007 21:47

I wasn't going to buy tat. Would of got a DVD or CD thats they wanted.
Why couldn't they of paid it in Friday while i was in town with just dd2!!

Staceym11PipersPiping · 22/12/2007 21:47

thurs money should come thurs, but IS and child benefit will come early.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 22/12/2007 21:49

CB is 4 weekly so i know its not that.

I think i will look in local shops Monday and see if there is anything nice in there instead of dragging them all on the train monday when it will be manic!

Don't really want to waste our Christmas eve in town.

Thanks for making me see sense.DS's will just think Santa is stingy this year. Although they did say they hope they get better bits than last years!

Tort, my tax credits are paid on a Wed but went in today along with child benefit and IS so be careful that you don't leave yourself with no money for next week.

pinkbubble · 22/12/2007 21:51

Yes that is the one - was it good? I have a very bad memory but something suddenly rang a bell! Would love to do something like that for mine!

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 22/12/2007 21:51

And i will look into online banking. I used to with my old account.

Magrat · 22/12/2007 21:56

if it was me, and I was sure there was spare money, rather than buying more christmas stuff I would go on play.com .. they have a sale atm from £2.99 .. and spend say £10 on DVDs .. they can be a between christmas and new year treat

discoverlife · 22/12/2007 22:02

The money is probably one of your benefits being paid early. If you feel that the amount would have been 'without ties' ie not supposed to be for a direct debit go for it. But also remember that the money instead of having to do you for 2 weeks (or whatever) will have to do you for 3 weeks.
I wouldn't bother with town, not dragging the kids, unless they havn't seen the lights yet. Its not worth the stress. Also don't forget that most dhops will close early on Monday.

pinkbubble · 22/12/2007 22:06

Tortoise are your DDs into High School Musical 2? Somehow me and DH bought 2 copies, would you like one?

pinkbubble · 22/12/2007 22:06

Its the CD by the way!

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 22/12/2007 22:07

PinkBubble- It was fab. All the kids loved trying to unicycle although that was very hard! I tried! Tight rope walking was also popular. They all got a go at showing what they had learnt at the end too.

Can't buy online unfortunatly. I don't have a credit/debit card. Just a card to withdraw from cash machine or post office.

pinkbubble · 22/12/2007 22:09

No I want to give it to you! I havent done secret santa etc, but have honestly a spare copy and it would be my pleasure to send it to you, obviously you would get it in the new year, but better late than never!

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 22/12/2007 22:17
