Just went to M and S

Couldn't even get onto car park for 2omins!!

Waited for a trolley, then when I finally got to the turkey isle they had all gone!!!

So went round clothes instead and bought DD some nice things for Boxing day (going to in laws)

Am going to try again on Christmas eve.

Do you think anywhere will have turkey's by then??

get a BIG CHICKEN - no-one will know.

coldtits - you ingsare not a knob - of all the th to get milk is easy

Pk616 · 22/12/2007 13:27

serin - You don't want bloody turkey anyway. It's dry and there's always way too much left over! Like BBBee says get a big ass chicken or a pork joint like hatrick.
If you still desire a turkey I think you'd better get your self motivated and do a supermarket trawl today (M & S doesn't count) not leave it until Monday when there'll be even less chance of you getting one!
M & S for a Turkey, the saturday before christmas, what were you thinking?

Anna8888 · 22/12/2007 13:28

Nearly 700 euros, including 6 bottles of champagne and 12 of wine but not including meat from butcher and fresh fruit and vegetables. But the fridge is groaning with food and we have several big meals (12 people) this week.

fishie · 22/12/2007 13:32

waitrose queue for carpark so large dh had to drop me off in street. £111 not including butcher and we're not even having christmas lunch at home! forgot maple syrup and i'm making maple bread tomorrow so will have to send dh on his bike for it gah.

not sure how it got to be such a large bill, but quite a lot of gifty present things were included, chocs and plants in pots. now i've got to go to west end will i survive?

needmorecoffee · 22/12/2007 13:38

bout the same. I do a nut roast/veg/pots once a week anyhow. Just shifting it to Boxing day insetad (Mum coming over). Xmas day will just be normal food as its only me, dh, 2 teens and dd (3)
We don't drink but I did buy a few extra chocs. Shops only shut one day (Tesco's open Boxing Day so didn't see any need to panic.

needmorecoffee · 22/12/2007 13:43

ds2 is asking for crackers. Have come over all bah-humbug cos I hate the thinks and think they are pointless expense.
Am expecting to be at the hozzie Xmas day as dd2 always times her seizures for inconvenient times. Gawd knows how much a cab will be Xmas day as there are no buses (to get home from hozzie)
Pessimist? Me?

annoyingdevil · 22/12/2007 14:24

I went shopping with my dad, and spent a whopping £260. I don't know why he felt the need to put 10 bottles of wine in the trolly!

bonkerzaboutxmas · 22/12/2007 14:31

well i was pleasently surprised with tesco, came half hour early and only 3 subs all of which were equal in price and quanitity!!!!!! Final bill £111.89 and i have enough to last till we get back after new year! Loads of veg too which i was worried about and all with long date till 27th!

kerryk · 22/12/2007 14:33

i have only forgot little juice bottles for the stockings and icing sugar to make santa footprints on the floor on xmas morning.

BJB21 · 22/12/2007 21:52

went Tesco at 1330, got bus and dp picked me up as expecting car park jammed etc.

Wasnt too bad1 Busyish but no queue at till at all. Shelves well stocked. Loads of turkeys(got mine already tho).

Spent £218!! world record for me. Especially as alraedy got box of food upstairs n spent 80 quid the day before!

trolley full but still need couple more bottles wine n beer(no room introlley) and Xmas pud for me(noone else likes). WAs shocked at what i spent but that did include bottle bacardi, Jack Daniels, 2 kitchen knives(10 quid each), one small xmas pressie and other shopping i needed- dog food, cleaning stuff etc.

Oh its still a lot isnt it?

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 22/12/2007 21:55

whoopwhoopdingding · 22/12/2007 22:14

Thanks to bjb's post I'm feeling loads better for having just spent £182 on top of the £60 t'other day ( cos only me DP & DS on xmas day)and as for santa having broken into her xmas day booze I can but take my hat off

BJB21 · 22/12/2007 22:14

i have no food for dinners other than Xms eve and day and Boxing day!thats a disgarce after what ive spent.

BJB21 · 22/12/2007 22:15

a disgrace even!!

BJB21 · 22/12/2007 22:16

i have even caved in and opened Xmas bacardi. Think its the stress of realising i only got paid yesterday and ive spent most of it after only one day on food!!!

whoopwhoopdingding · 22/12/2007 22:20

bet no one else has stil got to put it all away though might need to crack open the fizzy plonk to help me....

Magdeltwinkle · 22/12/2007 22:22

£80 in Morrisons, £12 in M&S and still need to spend another £15. Christmas day is on my sis so this is for a boxing day buffet for approx 8 people. Forgot picked onions, horseraddish sauce and need to make sure the bread buns and meat are fresh. Glad its only once a year

Milliways · 22/12/2007 22:27

We spent £220 in Sainsburys, but had £150 towards it in Nectar points. The turkey was £35, 2 bottle of Champagne, Whisky, beer was included

But I also did a "small" Asda shop for around £70....

We DO have people coming & staying though.

wheelybahhumbug · 22/12/2007 22:29

Mines coming tomorrow so we'll wait and see what is missing... It was £250 though without booze, turkey, christmas pud, ham.... what did I buy then ??

I had lunch with a friend today who had gone to do her big shop yesterday and literally forgot the turkey and the christmas pudding

Quattrocento · 22/12/2007 22:33

£400 not including meat, salad, bread rolls, gruyere or cream cheese

Did include booze however

coby · 22/12/2007 22:43

£29 but I forgot celery and icing sugar. Doesn't include the goose though which we pick up from the farm on Monday - think that will be about £25 but it's going to be soooooo much nicer than turkey.

whoopwhoopdingding · 22/12/2007 22:44

I forgot mince pies, flour and an annoying something else I can't put my finger on & can't find my shopping list
